Job Title: Campus Ambassador (Volunteer)
Job Description
We are looking for CDC Representatives (Campus Ambassadors) to play an integral role in building awareness of CDC in their respective disciplines (schools / colleges). Reps will gain valuable experience in grassroots marketing, PR (Public Relations), events planning, and project management. The rep job is structured and ideal for undergraduate student leaders who are looking to build their CV. All we ask for is a lot of initiative, creativity, and between 6 to 10 hours per week.
At NFT Consult, we believe that career development is a lifelong process of exploration and decision-making. It’s with that philosophy that we started the Career Development Center (CDC) with Makerere University. Although we started with Makerere University, our vision is to spread across all the Universities in Uganda, providing equal opportunities to All students.
We provide programs and services to help students integrate their academic experiences with lifelong learning and career opportunities through effective career exploration, planning, and preparation. As the students prepare academically we plan to also start their professional preparation through placements and internships, with an aim to open a clear channel between the needs of industry and the world of education.
The Person
There are multiple characteristics that will make up a CDC Campus Ambassadors;
• We want someone who wishes to enhance their college experience, likes people, loves to think creatively and who seeks more than a traditional internship and campus job.
• We are looking for student leaders who want to develop – those people who are actively involved with 1, 2 or more on-campus student organizations.
• Someone who knows how important extracurricular activities and professional experience are to their future leadership and success, one who is organized, reliable, and have their fingers on the pulse of campus.
• A confident communicator, who’ll will be happy to liaise with corporate supporters and individuals and will use your creativity to help with publicizing CDC events and activities• A passion for the university development.
• We shall recruit at least one ambassador from each School/College/Department so please specify the degree program in which you are enrolled.
Job Purpose
• To assist the CDC team to maximize awareness and attendance of the university students, especially from your discipline (school / College).
• To help with the planning and organization of CDC events.
• To help CDC in understanding student expectations, likes, and dislikes.
Responsibilities
Communications & PR
1. To assist with development of communications materials.
2. To assist with creation and distribution of promotional items.
3. To assist with CDC events.
4. Main responsibility will be to increase attendance of fellow students in your discipline to the CDC events.
Person Specification
Essential
• Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and interpersonal.
• Must be very outgoing, good at networking, and posses leadership qualities.
• Creativity (idea generation) and ability to work on own initiative and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail.
• Excellent team player.
• Social media enthusiast.
Desirable
• Previous marketing, fundraising or events experience.
Renumeration
This is a voluntary position and is unpaid however you are absolutely allowed to indicate it on your CV as work experience while at campus!
Duration
We ask for a minimum commitment of 2 semesters (1 academic year) for 1-2 days per week.
