Job Description


World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF, is one of the world’s largest independent and experienced conservation organizations operating in over 100 countries in the world. WWF – Uganda Country Office (WWF-UCO) is implementing a three year Government of Uganda project funded by UNDP; “Sustainable Environment and Natural Resource Management Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation in Uganda”. The project will be implemented in collaboration with responsible partners drawn from Central and Local Government Institutions, Civil Societies and Tertiary Academic Institutions.

WWF-UCO is seeking to recruit suitable candidates for the position below. The candidate must be good at writing project proposals, planning and have demonstrated a high level of integrity and honesty. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. They must be team players and ready to travel outside their own work station. Must adhere to WWF-UCO values of “Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging”.

Mission of the Department: To ensure the development and implementation of the Country Office’s Conservation Strategy to the highest standards.
Position : Information, Education, Communication and Institutional
Support Officer (IECISO)
Reporting to : National Project Manager
Location : Kampala, during its inception, after which it will relocate to the project site.
Project Duration : 2 (Two) years

Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop and implement the department communication strategy in line with the overall WWF UCO communication strategy;
• Coordinates and nurtures effective partnerships with national, district and other local government authorities;
• Builds capacity through seminars and use of print electronic media and training workshops;
• Develops training and communication materials for different project interventions;
• Carries out collaborative training programmes for selected trainers;
• Participates in relevant workshops and meetings at project and district levels;
• Assesses and documents lessons learnt during implementation of the project;
• Collects and manages relevant data as may be required;
• Compiles and presents regular reports on the tasks assigned;
• Monitors, evaluates and gives technical backstopping to different components of the project;

b) Required Qualifications and experience

• Bachelors degree or equivalent in the field of Information, Communication or other related field;
• Post graduate qualification in any of the above fields is an added advantage;
• Minimum of 2 years work experience in Information, Communication and Educational programmes targeting environmental related issues.
c) Working Relationships

Internal: Interacts and works closely with the WWF-UCO National Project Manager, administrative staff in the Uganda Country Office, and project staff.
External: Interacts as required with governmental institutions, Civil Society Organisations, and other stakeholders, in collaboration with the National Project Manager.
