Job Title: Statistician [1 position]
Job Description
Ipsos-Synovate is the prime source of holistic market information services that enhance planning and decision making in the Private, NGO and Public Sectors across sub-Saharan Africa. We are an integrated media research & media monitoring, social and market research company providing evidence and insights which inform and advise on a wide range of business & social issues.

Statistician [1 position]

The Role:
 ◦
Collection statistical information crucial for specific research purposes


Work closely with the Lead Statistician in Sub Saharan Africa to implement standard and proprietary statistical methods


Perform sampling  for different types of studies


Hypothesis testing (Parametric and Non-parametric)


Advanced statistical analysis (Multiple Regression, logistic regression, factor analysis, discriminant analysis, CHAID)


Advise research executives on appropriate statistics/analytics to be used in proposals and reports


Represents the Statistical Office at meetings and technical committee

Key Performance indicators (KPIs)
 ◦
Ability to execute duties within 1 month of employment


Creative use of statistical methods to solve client issues


Ability to work with minimum supervision


Timely and accurate delivery of statistical results


Demonstrate superior problem solving skills

Knowledge & Skills
 ◦
A bachelors degree in Statistics or  any Social Science degree with over 180hrs of Statistics and Quantitative methods courses


At least 3 years working experience in a similar organization


Advanced knowledge in classical  and emerging statistical methods


Knowledge of SPSS software and its modules. Knowledge of STATA or SAS will be an added advantage. Additionally advanced knowledge of how to use MS-Excel and other MS-Office products is crucial


Advanced knowledge of SPSS Syntax Programming language is a MUST


Should be knowledgeable on relevant analytics in Market  & Social Research


Knowledge of the Uganda National Statistical System is vital


Ability to explain complex statistical phenomena to non-statisticians


Good oral and written presentation skills

Research Executives [2 positions]

Responsibilities & Deliverables
 ◦
Final Project Execution: Executing field brief and supervising the process until the final deliverables i.e. a draft report or transcripts are produced


Quality Control: Review and ensure that high quality standards of work are maintained on all: Project documents, Project plans, Field execution, Draft study materials, Draft reports, Data- Final Transcripts

◦Client Relationship Management & Business Development: Ensuring that the client is regularly updated on the progress of the project
 ◦
Research Design: Providing input into the design of relevant research instruments (questionnaires, discussion guides, interviewer briefs, sampling plans, etc)


Report Writing: Write accurate and insightful reports, keeping proposal requirements and objectives in mind, adhering to relevant Ipsos- Synovate standards


Presentations: Ensure that a presentation review meeting is set up with senior Research Executive/ Senior Research Manager, Design presentation according to client and company standards


Team & People Management: Responsible for coaching/ on the job training for junior team members, pro-actively responsible for their own learning and development, promote team spirit

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge &Skills:
 ◦
A relevant University Degree


A minimum of 2 years experience in market research


Good knowledge of market research methodologies (preferably with an emphasis on quantitative research, but having both quantitative & qualitative experience will be an advantage)


Strong numeric skills


Excellent command of spoken and written English and Kiswahili


Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively


Team leadership and project management skills.


Strong analytical skills


Excellent computing skills especially in MSWord, Excel & PowerPoint

Job Title :COMMUNICATIONS / ADVOCACY OFFICER
Job Description
OVERALL TASKS INCLUDE:

Strategy development: Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic communications and advocacy agenda for CCFU.

Project Management: Assume lead management role for the implementation of CCFU’s Cultural Heritage Project

Knowledge Management: Supervise the management and development of CCFU Resource Centre as a reference point for knowledge on “culture in development” and pluralism

Networking: Establish linkages and collaborate with relevant stakeholders in and outside Uganda to promote and preserve culture as vital for human development

Programme support: Participate in CCFU’s internal management mechanisms

KEY RESULT AREAS:

1 Strategy development
 * Identify relevant issues for engagement on “culture in development” in light of revalent development trends and debates

* Develop, update, and implement CCFU’s communications strategy including document and disseminate knowledge generated from CCFU’s work to relevant audiences

* Participate in CCFU monitoring and evaluation meetings, internal reflections and retreats

2 Project Management
 * Assume lead role for the day to day implementation of the “Enhancing Heritage Education in Uganda” project, including (review heritage resource kits for schools; support to heritage clubs and to community museums and management of heritage competition)

* Monitor and evaluate progress and budget

* Ensure donor requirements are met

3 Knowledge management
 * Supervise the management, development and marketing of the CCFU Resource Centre

* Develop and implement plan on popular dissemination of pluralism knowledge outputs

* Monitor and evaluate the performance of the Resource Centre

4 Documentation and communication
 * Develop documentation outputs into publicity and training materials – print (policy briefs, brochures, leaflets, posters, stickers, etc), and photography on aspects of ‘Culture in Development’ as defined by the Foundation

* Coordinate the dissemination of knowledge generated by CCFU through the media, CCFU Support Group, Resource Centre and other relevant avenues

* Supervise and contribute to regular updates of the CCFU website

* Identify and utilize appropriate electronic media communication tools to disseminate knowledge generated by the Foundation

5 Networking and publicity
 * Effectively represent and participate in discussions and public fora related to ‘Culture in Development’, Cultural Heritage and Pluralism

* Identify and establish linkages with potential partners in promoting our core programme areas in and outside Uganda

* Work with the media to ensure effective communication of CCFU’s documentation outputs

6 Programme support
 * Liaise with CCFU management and participate in fundraising for the Foundation’s communications /advocacy agenda

* Participate in CCFU planning and budget monitoring meetings, staff meetings, retreats

 • Proficient in using ICT and social media
