Requirement:

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications and working experience

Minimum of a Degree in Primary Education, or the equivalent of this, from a recognized institution;

Must have attended at least four workshops/seminars and four short courses relevant to the profession;

Registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports; and

Minimum of twelve years’ working experience, three of which should have been at Deputy Head Teacher or Principal Education Assistant level with administrative responsibilities.

Duties

To prepare the schemes of work/lesson plans and teach students according to the set timetable;

To be in charge of overall administration and management of the school;

To plan for the physical development of the school and professional development of the staff;

To plan, organize, direct and coordinate the teaching programmes and activities of staff and students;

JOB PURPOSE:
The overall purpose of this post is to provide palliative care training to students on the diploma, degree and short courses in palliative care. The post holder is also expected to coach, mentor and supervise students on training programme at the different levels.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Training material development
Participates in developing quality low-cost educational materials (particularly instructional materials.
Participates in review and editing of training materials and modules.


Training & Education:

Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of training courses assigned to him/her.
Participate sin follow up, coaching and mentoring of trainees attending courses
Supports and supervises the students in developing research/audit proposals and implementing research/audit projects

Participates in departmental meetings and when requested represent Hospice training and education department in stakeholders meetings.
Participates in planning and organization of Hospice and palliative care activities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Ideal: Specialist in palliative care with degree in medicine or nursing and preferably post graduate degree in palliative care or education. A Diploma in Palliative Care, Education, Public Health, Nursing, Clinical Officers course. At least 2 years teaching experience in a recognized health institution with a focus on HIV/AIDS and or Cancer. At least 3 years in developing curricula and course materials including experience in low cost educational material development. Experience in adult learning methodology, experience in research/audit.

EXAMINATIONS ASSISTANT
Reporting to the Academic Head, the incumbent will work closely with the programme Coordinators in ensuring the smooth, efficient and effective management of examinations. S/he will be responsible for:
Assisting the Academic Head in scheduling of all University examinations and evaluations. Be responsible for typing and  photocopying  examination papers
Distributing examination scripts to the invigilators .
Keeping the examination papers in safe custody and transmitting to internal and external examiners as necessary.
Maintaining security and confidentiality of all exams and evaluations related materials and information
Maintaining data, analyzing and generating individual reports on examinations and students
Analyzing and maintaining staff and faculty evaluation records
Coordinating examination logistics e.g. invigilation requirements, booking of exam venues, etc.
Receiving and onward transmission of students’ assignments
Assisting the Programme Coordinators and faculty with secretarial services
Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.


Required Qualifications:

Diploma in Secretarial Studies/Business Administration
3 years experience in a similar position
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Advanced computer skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
