Job Title: Employee Relations Specialist


Responsibilities:

Develop, monitor and implement all industrial and employee relations initiatives in the Bank in line with Bank policy, Government of Uganda and international employment laws and regulations.
Periodically review existing employment laws and regulations to enable enhancement of the Human Resource policies and procedures, and ensure consistency and alignment of the policies with the employment laws and regulations.
Periodically review and implement appropriate terms and conditions of employment for all employees in compliance with employment laws and regulations, and in liaison with line management and HR business partners.
Develop proactive measures to mitigate and resolve disputes, grievances and devise dispute resolution strategies for the Bank in coordination with the legal team, Line Managers and HR business partners.
Support line management in resolution of payroll, performance appraisal, medical insurance, disciplinary and all other issues pertaining employees in line with Bank policy, employment laws and regulations.
Coordinate, monitor and ensure appropriate implementation of sound staff provident, benefits and pension schemes i.e. NSSF & Terminal Benefits in line with HR Policy and the Bank policies.
Ensure that the Bank observes an appropriate Occupational Health and Safety environment in line with the OSHA requirements.
Champion a conducive employee engagement work environment.

Skills and Qualifications:

Honours degree in Human Resource Management, Social Sciences or Organization Psychology.
At least 3 years experience as an HR generalist, with experience in employee relations.
Strong negotiation and coordination skills in a diverse environment.
Ability to work at an operational level.
Ability to assess potential problems and make sound judgments around issues that may have an adverse effect on the business from an ER perspective.
Strong people management skills, gained through managing and developing teams.
A high level of emotional intelligence; excellent interpersonal skills; and
wide understanding of people issues.
Competent computer skills.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
Demonstrable negotiation skills.

Job Title: Family Tracing Officer

Duties:

Provide  content  for  FM  stations  across  the  region by gathering  defection  messages  from  family   members of current  LRA members  across  northern  Uganda
Take  photos of  returnees safely at home  with their  families  for use on  Invisible  Children  defection  fliers and for  external   communications by  IC HQ  or  other  IC  offices .
Provide  family  tracing  support  for key  individuals  within  the  LRA;  establish  a relationship with  needed  stakeholders  and  utilize  them  for defection messaging content

Qualifications
The  candidate should have  a Bachelor’s  degree  in Social  Sciences  or in  communications  related  disciplines.

M&E officer Jobs Vacancy at Institute for Social Transformation (IST) in Uganda


Job Title: M&E officer

The Institute for Social Transformation (IST) is a non- profit organization established in Uganda in 2006 to promote use of the Training for Transformation (TfT) methodology in English speaking countries of Eastern Africa. To this effect it is implementing projects aimed at building the capacity of partner organisations in gender mainstreaming, transformative learning and collective action towards their own progress.
The Institute seeks the expertise of a consultant to incorporate an M&E component in its projects.
The M&E officer will be answerable to the Executive Director, with the majority of tasks to be undertaken in collaboration with the IST programme staff and the partner organisations.

Key Responsibilities:
Assessing the existing M&E needs and processes of IST
Work with IST staff on designing and developing the M&E system including developing appropriate indicators and tools for data collection for the current projects to enable IST use the information for decision making.
Ensure that performance questions, information needs, indicators and related targets, methods, sampling procedure and reporting formats and procedures are part of the M& E system. Ensure that these supplement and link to the existing M&E processes of partner organisations.
Work closely with IST training teams to identify how they do their own M&E and how this can be linked to project M&E in ways that are safe and appropriate.
Conduct monitoring and evaluation of programmes
Prepare reports on M&E findings, as required, working closely with IST staff.
In collaboration with the accountant, provide the Executive Director with management information that she/he may require
Ensure that monitoring data are discussed with relevant IST staff and in a timely fashion in terms of implications for future action.
 Build the capacity of IST in M&E data collection, analysis, interpretation and use for decision making.
Support IST staff in entering and analyzing project data, ensure quality preparation.
Document good practices/ case studies

Requirement:
Minimum of Master’s degree by coursework & research, community development or social studies from a recognized University.
Up to date on theory and research in radical approaches to learning, gender equality and leadership
A minimum of four (4) years working experience in monitoring and evaluation work using statistical and participatory approaches
 Proven high level writing skills in report writing
Demonstrated ability to use computer assisted software for data collection and analysis
Excellent presentation skills.
Unquestionable integrity, self-motivation, team player, highly versatile, high-level interpersonal and good communications skills and capability to work under tight deadlines in a competitive environment.

Job Purpose:

This is a full time position where the suitable candidate must be able to teach at least two of the following subjects:

Development and Social Work, Social Work Theory and Practice, Elements of Social Work Intervention, Introduction to Social Work, Introduction to Social Work Administration, Social Work Research Methods, Social Work and Chronic Illness, Social Work and Mental Illness.

Qualifications and experience

   1. Hold a Master of Social Work degree from a recognized institute of higher learning.
   2. A good Social Work honours degree.
   3. Should have at least 3 years’ experience in teaching and supervising research for either undergraduates or postgraduate students in an institution of higher learning.
   4. Membership to professional associations, societies or bodies.
   5. Ability to use Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) to support teaching and learning.
   6. Must be a committed Christian.

Main duties and Responsibilities

   1.

      Teaching normal workload of between 18 to 21 hours per semester.
   2.

      Prepare course outlines for all courses taught according to the University format.
   3.

   4.

      Teaching and assessment of students in accordance with the University’s curriculum.
   5.

      Expected to be present for all lectures.
   6.

      Maintenance of regular office hours for attending to students’ questions.
   7.

      Participation in regular academic and administrative meetings.

   9.
