Agricultural Officer in Uganda at Welthungerhilfe


Job Title: Agricultural Officer


Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest German Non-Governmental Organisations in the field of Development and Emergency Assistance. Projects in Uganda are in Lira, Kabarole and Karamoja regions. The Regional Office of the Great Lakes Region in Kampala also supports projects in Rwanda and Burundi.
Welthungerhilfe has two vacant positions in Uganda to be filled in with suitable candidates.
Title: Agricultural Officer
Reports to: Project Manager
Duty station: Karamoja Region, Moroto.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
General:
Preparation of work- and monitoring plans for the Agricultural / Livestock Department;
Participate in the attribution of plots for timber production and fodder banks;
Procurement of seeds and tools
Assist the project management in reporting, monitoring and evaluation;
Liaise with agronomists from other NGOs active in Karamoja
Assist, coach and mentor members of the Agricultural Department
Apply the Agro-Pastoral Farmer Field School approach in the block farm areas
Requirement:
Degree in relevant field;
Professional experience, preferably with an International NGO.
Proficient in Ngakarimojong as well as in English (spoken and written),
Proficient with major computer programmes.

Job Title: Curriculum Specialist (BTVET -Technical)

Background
The National Curriculum Development Centre is a corporate body under the Ministry of Education and Sports. It is responsible for inter-alia development of curricula and related materials for various level of education (i.e. Pre- Primary, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary), organizing capacity building courses for stakeholders on curricula and matters related to curriculum.
Curriculum Specialist (BTVET -Technical)
Responsible to: Head of Department BTVET
Main purpose of the job:
To develop curricula and curriculum related materials.
Duties and responsibilities:
Initiates and develops ideas on curricular reforms.
Develops and. prepares subject syllabi, teachers’ manuals, texts and other related curriculum materials.
Organizes and conducts writing workshops.
Writes, coordinates and edits curriculum units developed by the panel and other teachers.
Organizes and conducts orientation courses for teachers.
Popularizes education in the relevant subject.
Services the subject panel by planning and convening meetings, preparing working papers and furnishing the necessary data and relevant research reports.
Any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
Diploma in electrical engineering
At least a qualification in Education/pedagogical skills
A master's degree will be an added advantage
A minimum of 5 years teaching experience at a technical college or institution of higher learning.

Age: 30 - 45 years Scale: CD 5 or 6 depending on the qualification
Masters degree in Agriculture
Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Diploma/Certificate in Agricultural related field
