Job Title: Analyst Electrical (Salary Scale UNBS 6)

Reporting to the Head of the Laboratory; the successful candidate shall be required to perform the following duties;
Analyse samples accurately, quickly, and at a reasonable cost.
Promote good laboratory practices;
Evaluate analytical information and submit it to higher authorities for appropriate action
Initiate or recommend corrective actions for improvement, as may be necessary;
Undertake quality control activities/system of the laboratories to conform to the authorized policies, procedures, and sound laboratory practice.
Perform any other relevant duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor or management.


Qualifications and other requirements

The successful candidates shall have honours degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering from a recognized institution
Must be computer literate with emphasis on MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the use of Internet.
Minimum of 2 years experience in a laboratory setting
Being conversant with ISO/IEC 17025 Standard and having worked in an accredited laboratory will be an added advantage,

Age:  Not more than 30 years

The successful candidate needs to be a team player, an excellent communicator with good oral communication and presentation skills.

Metrologist Job Vacancy at Uganda National Bureau of Standards


Job Title:  Metrologist (Salary Scale UNBS 6)
Assist in the preparation of measurement schemes for determination of uncertainties and for installation and examination of new instruments
Assist in training of junior staff in the use of equipment
Undertake/perform  tests and/or calibrations
Plan calibration work and estimate duration and costs of such work and check calibration results
Coordinate on-site tests/calibration services
Assist  to ensure  calibration  programmes of all equipment in the laboratory are met and documented
Assist in undertaking inter-comparisons in collaboration with other laboratories
Perform any other relevant duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor or management.

Qualifications and other requirements

Masters qualification in relevant field will be an added advantage

Audit Manager Job Vacancy at UNBS in Uganda


Job Title: Audit Manager (Salary Scale UNBS 3)
Reports directly to the Audit Committee of the National Standards Council and administratively to the Executive Director.  The Audit Manager provides strategic direction to the Internal Audit function and has a management responsibility for ensuring that the Audit function performs value adding audits that are relevant to the unique and changing needs of the Bureau.
The successful candidate shall be required to perform the following duties:
Plan, develop and execute a comprehensive annual risk based audit work plans;
Prepare and present audit reports to Management and the Audit Committee of the National Standards Council;
Ensure that there is an efficient and effective audit approach to audit assignments undertaken by staff in Audit Department;
Ensure that there is timely performance of financial, operational, systems and processes’ audits of all Bureau operations;
Provide assurance that internal controls exist, are adhered to and are adequate;
Coordinate investigations relating to cases of fraud and abuse of law, policies and procedures;
Manage performance and development of staff in the Audit department;
Ensure that there is continuous follow up on the implementation of external audits’ recommendations and those agreed on from internal audit;
Continuously review the systems and operations of the Bureau with an objective of keeping Management informed of the extent to which operations are contributing to the realization of UNBS mandate;
Provide Management and Council with value adding recommendations that enable the Organization to continuously improve on her policies, systems, processes and procedures


Qualifications and other requirements
a) Possession of a Masters Degree in either Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, Auditing, Finance or other relevant business courses.
b) Possession of Honours degree in either Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, Auditing, Finance or other relevant business courses.
c) Possession of a professional qualification in accounting, auditing or procurement.
d) Working experience of eight (8) years, five (5) years of which are at a senior management level in a reputable organization, international agency or Government Ministry, Department or Agency
e) Should be proficient in computer - Ms Word and Excel, and able to use the Internet
f) Shall be a member of a professional body.
Preferred
Experience attained from government agencies
Excellent communication, conceptual and interpersonal skills
Experience in conducting other types of audits, other than money related
 Age:  Between 35 and 50 years
