About Us:

Job Summary:

The Ag-Inputs Specialist will coordinate and promote agro-input activities among stakeholders that should eventually lead to improved farmer access to affordable genuine products. He /She will work with various stakeholders to promote improved agro-input usage among farmers as a means of increasing yields and incomes. She/he will also support the emergency of Village stockists through coaching and mentoring and link them to Seed companies and agro Input distributors to improve input delivery systems and create demand for use of quality and genuine inputs at grassroots level. She/he will be required to work closely with the USAID/Uganda Ag-Inputs Activity and other government related programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and promote models that strengthen relationships between smallholder farmers and input companies (Village agents & traders) to facilitate better access to inputs and output marketing
Through a facilitative approach increase farmer access to improved inputs (seed, fertilizer, production services and crop protection products) by stimulating demand via demonstrations and awareness that also stimulate competitive input supply chain development and include an exit strategy
Through a facilitative approach increase smallholder farmers' knowledge about the benefits of using high quality inputs;
Coach and mentor agro-input dealers to provide embedded services like spraying, farmer trainings, demonstrations and other new business opportunities;
Collaborate closely with USAID Ag-input and other USAID and Government of Uganda Inputs related programs
Assist in the establishment of linkages with private sector service providers, buyers, input and supply firms
Co-ordinate and manage stakeholders meetings and focus group discussions which include both public and private sector Stakeholders.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The candidate must possess a University degree in Agriculture-related field.
A post graduate diploma/degree in agribusiness will be an added advantage.
2 5-plus years' experience working in agricultural inputs or donor funded Agricultural input programs;
Proven experience in project development new business development
Team worker / team builder, proven ability to inspire.
A go-getter who gets things done.
Excellent communication skills
Computer literacy skills
Experience in promoting linkages among actors

Curriculum Specialist at National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC)

It is responsible for inter-alia development of curricula and related materials for various level of education (i.e. Pre- Primary, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary), organizing capacity building courses for stakeholders on curricula and matters related to curriculum.

Job Summary:

The Curriculum Specialist (BTVET –Agriculture) will develop curricula and curriculum related materials.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Initiates and develops ideas on curricular reforms.
Develops and. prepares subject syllabi, teachers’ manuals, texts and other related curriculum materials.
Organizes and conducts writing workshops.
Writes, coordinates and edits curriculum units developed by the panel and other teachers.
Organizes and conducts orientation courses for teachers.
Popularizes education in the relevant subject.
Services the subject panel by planning and convening meetings, preparing working papers and furnishing the necessary data and relevant research reports.
Any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should possess a  Masters degree in Agriculture or related fields
Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Diploma/Certificate in Agricultural related field
A qualification in education will be an added advantage
At least four years teaching experience at a technical college or institution of higher learning and field experience in agricultural related work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Driving vehicles for official duty and assignments;
Carrying out basic maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle;
Reporting major technical mechanical faults to the supervising officer;
Maintaining basic records regarding the vehicles as instructed;
Ensuring the safety of the vehicle while on duty.

A Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with a pass in English Language.
Possess valid driving permit of class E, held for the last three years.
Driving experience in a reputable organization for at least two years.
