Job Title: Managing Director


Our client, UAP Holdings Limited (UAP) is a pan-African Financial Services Group with interests in Insurance, Investment Management, Property investments. Property Development, Securities Brokerage and Financial Advisory.
Currently, UAP has over eight businesses operating in Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan which are market leaders in their respective fields. The Group will be launching operations in selected markets in Africa as part of its vision to be the most innovative pan-African Insurance and Financial Services Group.
In order to execute its ambitious growth and expansion strategy, UAP is seeking to recruit a visionary and results driven individual to fill the position of Managing Director for UAP Insurance Uganda, a fully owned subsidiary of UAP Holdings Limited.
UAP Insurance Uganda Limited is a leading insurance and financial services provider in Uganda. The Company provides an innovative product mix of all classes of insurance, including life, medical and general insurance.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors and the Group Managing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
Providing leadership in the development, execution and achievement of the company’s strategic plans;
Implementing the board’s business development and financial performance decisions;
Identifying new markets and opportunities for business expansion;
Overseeing the development of innovative products for new and existing clients;
Implementation of efficient and effective business processes to drive high levels of operations;
Ensuring prudent financial management and due care of the company’s assets and liabilities;
Developing and managing a strong and effective Management team;
Building effective relationships with the board, regulators and other key stakeholders;
Enforcing a culture of regulatory compliance and good corporate governance; and
Maintaining a conducive work environment for attracting, retaining and motivating employees
Requirement:
Qualifications
A Bachelors degree in Business, Economics or other relevant field from a recognized institution;
A Masters degree in Business Administration or related field;
An Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII), qualified Accountant or other relevant professional qualification;
A team leader with 10 years relevant senior management experience;
Excellent business acumen and awareness of the external environment;
Strong interpersonal and people management skills and
Proven intellectual leadership in developing people and managing performance

The ideal candidate’s responsibility will include, but will not be limited to the following:
Key Accountabilities
Provide strategic and visionary leadership for the delivery of ACCA’s strategy and ensure a long-term and strategic positioning of the ACCA brand in the market;
Build and maintain influence by engaging at a strategic level with ACCA stakeholders and influential groups connected with the accounting profession;
Determine and take forward the employer and relationship management approach in Uganda;
Manage the provision of quality engagement services to employers, members and students in the Uganda market;
Stay abreast of key issues relevant to the accountancy profession and business community and ensure that ACCA is well positioned as a key influencer on these issues;
Represent ACCA as a local figurehead and key spokesperson in local media on subjects in relation to the accountancy profession and the ACCA;
Work with the relevant operations function to ensure the successful delivery of ACCA business activity within the market;
Ensure the successful implementation of the Fit for the Future strategic initiatives including the enabling of the delivery of Market Operations
Transformation;
Prepare and manage as appropriate an approved budget for the development, administration and activities of ACCA in Uganda and submit periodic financial and management reports and plans in accordance with ACCA internal procedures;
Develop, train and motivate the local team in line with ACCA’s organisation wide competency framework
Requirement:
Requirements The ideal candidate should have:
At least 3 - 5 years experience at Director level or as head of department in a commercial national or international organisation;
Experience in business development and/or marketing
A degree from a recognized university and relevant professional qualification;
Well developed understanding of marketing and business development strategy and implementation;
Good knowledge of the accounting community and accountancy related issues, a good appreciation of economics, business law and public affairs;
Good knowledge of the Uganda business environment
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral;
Proven leader with excellent people-management and influencing skills;
Ability to work under pressure, on own initiative and within agreed budgets;
Ability to deliver agreed KPI's;
Ability to contribute to ACCA's policy agenda as required;
Proven experience as a team player with excellent people and influencing skills; and
Fluency in English Language, both spoken and written.

Job Title: General Manager- Finance

   
Centenary Bank, the leading Micro Finance and Commercial Bank in Uganda seeks to recruit suitably qualified, experi­enced and competent persons in the fol­lowing fields;
General Manager Finance (1)
Reports to: Managing Director
Role: To plan, direct and control the financial resources of the bank and ensure sound overall financial management and reporting in line with the strategic plan, and lead a team of profes­sional staff in line with the regulatory, frame­work, the FIA /IFRS standards and the ALCO risk management guidelines.
Key Result Areas
Plan, develop and implement the Bank’s financial performance strategies, carry out project evaluations, consolidate possible sce­nario analyses / competition analyses for bank projects / and cost rationalization, in line with the business plan and regulatory framework.
Coordinate the process of consolidating monthly, periodic, and adhoc financial re­ports to EXCO and the Board in line with the regulatory framework, IFRS and the bank budget.
Champion growth of the Bank’s overall treasury portfolio to maximize profitability in line with the banks business plan, ALCO risk guidelines and the regulatory framework.
Review trends, coordinate Identification of strategies for cost management and generate cost -center specific recommendations and engage line Divisions in order to maximize shareholder value.
Coordinate the annual budgeting process and periodically report on performance against budget for all cost centers, examine variances to budget and revised estimates, provide explanations for remedial action.
Coordinate the preparation of final accounts and liaise with external auditors in carrying out periodic and annual audit of accounts on time in line with regulators.
Coordinate and monitor implementation of a system, which ensures that the process for transfer pricing is aligned , communicate variances to branches and generate periodic EXCO reports
Coordinate implementation of systems, policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions of the bank are monitored for conformity with the existing internal controls in line with the banks risk management guidelines and the regulatory framework.
Appraise and determine attractiveness to enter into new business partnerships/networks/ markets/ intended to maximize share holder value in line with the socio – economic indi­cators, industry performance drivers and the regulatory framework.
Manage the performance and development of subordinate staff in line with the identified needs and the HR policies.
Requirement:
Required Qualifications
Honours degree from a recognized universi­ty in Accounting, BBA, Commerce, Econom­ics or Banking & Investment.
A professional qualification of ACCA or CPA.
A relevant Master's degree.
At least 7 years relevant experience of which 3 years at senior management level.
Experience and proven track record in a similar role in a regulated financial institution is clear advantage
