Job Title: DISTRICT FIELD COORDINATORS

Job Description

Location: One of 5 district pairs in North Central Uganda
Reporting to: Field Operations Manager (Gulu)
Based in one of five district pairs in Northern Uganda, the incumbent acts as the principal coordinator between the project support team and the District Officials to plan, implement and evaluate field spray operations within the districts. The incumbent will support the transfer of skills from the project to staff within two Districts to ensure that, over time, there is adequate local capacity to implement a spray operation with minimal external support.
Summary of main responsibilities:
• Responsible for ensuring close collaboration between project technical teams and Officials in two Districts for all activities related to spray operations;
• Responsible for coordinating activities of capacity building in all technical and managerial areas including environmental compliance, monitoring and evaluation, logistics and IEC/BCC;
• Work closely with relevant District Officials to ensure that IRS best practices are adhered to and that set targets are met during spray rounds.
Qualifications include:
• Bachelor’s Degree in project management or other relevant field (Master’s Degree preferred);
• At least 5 years’ professional work experience in implementing projects in the field, preferably with operations aimed at improving public health;
• Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills;
• Tactfulness and excellent communication skills;
• A “Can-Do” attitude and enthusiasm.

Logistics Manager Job Vacancy at Uganda Indoor Residual Spray (IRS) Project


Job Title: LOGISTICS MANAGER

Job Description

Location: Gulu
Reporting to: Deputy Chief of Party (Gulu)
Responsibilities include:
• Supervision of Central Store and District Store Managers;
• Conducting physical verification of inventory of District Stores (at least once per spray round);
• Supervision of transportation services for logistics & staff movement;
• Transfer of IRS logistics knowledge and skills to District Officials;
• Preparation of training program for Parish storekeepers;
• In collaboration with Environmental Compliance Officer, ensure all health and safety measures and other best practices are followed at all store locations and for all distribution & collection activities;
• Ensures proper clearance and disposal of all waste material;
• In consultation with the Operations and Technical Directors, prepares procurement plan for upcoming spray rounds;
• Ensures that all necessary materials are received & delivered on-time for upcoming spray rounds.
Qualifications include:
• Recognized degree in Logistics, Management or similar studies; a relevant master’s degree will be an advantage;
• Minimum 6 years proven track record in stores management;
• Good skills in monitoring/assessing performance of staff and systems to make improvement or take corrective action;
• Ability to motivate a team;
• Good IT skills;
• Experience that relates to USAID and knowledge of FARs and AIDARs is highly desirable.

Central & District Store Managers Jobs at Uganda Indoor Residual Spray (IRS) Project


Job Title: CENTRAL & DISTRICT STORE MANAGERS

Job Description

Location: One of 5 district pairs in North Central Uganda
Reporting to: Logistics Manager (Gulu)
Based in one of five district pairs in Northern Uganda, the district store manager acts as the logistics coordinator for the Districts. (The central store manager will be based in Gulu.) The incumbent will support the transfer of skills from the project to staff within the districts to ensure that, over time, there is adequate local capacity to implement logistics support to spray operations with minimal external support.
Responsibilities include:
• Maintaining up-to-date inventory records (stock cards, ledgers);
• Issuing goods to Parish stores, in accordance with approved distribution plans;
• Supervising part-time Parish storekeepers, Dispatch Clerks and other temporary workers, as required;
• At completion of each spray round, removal of all goods and equipment from Parish level stores, and receiving at District level;
• Ensuring proper maintenance / repair of spray pumps;
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant policies (e.g., environmental, security);
• Assisting in the identification of candidates for the positions of Parish level storekeeper;
• Conducting training of Parish level storekeepers;
• Conducting ad hoc audits of Parish level stores;
• Training / mentoring of District Officials to incrementally take on all of the above tasks.
Qualifications include:
• Completion of Secondary School (minimum), or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Management or other similar field (desirable);
• At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in Stores Management;
• Excellent writing, computer and organizational skills;
• Ability to independently plan and execute complex tasks while addressing daily management details and remaining organized and focused on long-term deadlines and strategy highly desirable;
• Ability to assess problems and develop solutions;
• Excellent inter-personal communication skills and excellent organization skills;
• Experience that relates to USAID or other donor USAID experience and knowledge of FARs and AIDARs is highly desirable.
