 Job Title:  Driver
Grade:   V
Section: Administration

Overall purpose:

Responsible for transportation of Commission Officials, mail delivery, payment of accounts as well as assisting the Administration Section in other tasks.


Functions and duties:

+ Logistic Support: Driver

Transportation of staff and officials on mission to Uganda to meetings and other work related events.
Transportation of staff on missions within Uganda and to the surrounding countries
Distribution of outgoing mail and collection of the incoming mail from the Post Office, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Embassies and other correspondents
Care and safety  of vehicle(s) under responsibility

Ensure that the vehicle is used correctly; check the condition of vehicles every morning;
Maintain cleanliness of Delegation cars;

Assisting the Administration section with other operational tasks, such as sending faxes, making photocopies, filing, etc
Other logistical support such as furniture & equipment repair.
Assist the Protocol Officer in following up on Visas, Special Passes, Work Permits etc;
Relieve the Receptionist when need arises
Any other duties assigned by the Head of Administration or Head of Delegation.

Formal Education

+ Secondary education (not giving access to higher education): essential

High school degree Current Driving Licence necessary to perform the job; Special driver training desirable

African Palliative Care Association (APCA)

Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: Kampala

The African Palliative Care Association (APCA) is a non government organization based in Kampala, Uganda. The organization is also widely understood and integrated in all health systems across Africa to reduce pain and suffering associated with life limiting illnesses. APCA works through a network of national, regional and international partnerships.


Job summary:

The post holder is responsible, under the direction of the Director of Resources for implementation of APCA’s financial management system, and taking care of maintain of good and safe stewardship of funds, and etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Monitoring bank accounts to ensure there are sufficient funds for operations, review monthly bank reconciliation statements and ensuring donor interbank transactions are promptly settled.
•    Management control of all accounts like creditors, debtors, and staff advances accounts producing monthly reports on their status.
•    Ensure that there is an accessible filling system for all financial records.
•    Management of all the finance teams
•    Reviewing all payment requisitions before payments are made and the corresponding payment vouchers.
•    Coordinates the statutory and USAID audit exercise and ensure auditors have the necessary information to ensure a smooth running of the exercise.
•    Perform end of year adjustments, preparation of annual final accounts and USAID statement of works and ensuring it’s submitted for approval to USAID.
•    Monitoring all advances to grantees, review of grantee accountabilities and reports submitted by grantees and ensuring that the advances are settled according to the sub agreements.
•    Supporting the programmes team to develop and review budget s for proposals as needed.
•    To undertake other duties within APCA as may be reasonably requested.


Qualifications and Experiences:

•    A Degree in an accounting related field like in B COM, BB.A and professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA.
•    Minimum of 4 years financial management experience in busy NGO.
•    Experience with management of USAID grants will be an added advantage.
•    Computer literacy and knowledge of computerized accounting packages, knowledge of Quick Books will be an advantage.

Terms and salary:

Two year renewable contract: APCA will offer a competitive salary commensurate with the candidate’s skills and experience.
