Background: KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation (KNCV) is an international knowledge and expertise centre on tuberculosis based in the Netherlands. The organization is committed to reducing tuberculosis worldwide and works in over 30 countries. KNCV stimulates effective, efficient and sustainable tuberculosis control strategies in a national and international context through: policy development, technical assistance, advisory services, training programs, capacity building, as well as epidemiological and operational research.

In Uganda, KNGV is implementing TBCARE I, a 15 month USAID funded project. TBCAREI works in close collaboration with the National TB and Leprosy Program (NTLP). TBCAREI will support the NTLP and TB control in Kampala. KNCV is seeking to recruit the following staff:

Position: Secretary/Receptionist

Reports to: Finance and Operations Manager

Duties and responsibilities
 Receiving and handling guests visiting KNCV offices
 Maintaining a customer-friendly reception area
 Operating and maintaining telephone switchboard
 Handling in-coming and out-going mails, messages and parcels
 Handling and maintenance of front office equipments
 Assisting finance and operations manager in making staff travel arrangements
 Any other duty that may be allocated by the supervisor from time to time


Requirement:

Minimum requirements
 Diploma in Business Administration/Management, Secretarial studies or any related field from a recognized institution.
 Additional training in customer care will be an advantage
 Demonstrates good understanding of front office management, and coordination of internal and external customers
 Must have good oral and written communication skills and possess the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
 Must have clear speech and be able to create good rapport with guests and be extremely courteous and friendly at all times
 Must be confident, eloquent and able to multi-task with good communication and public relations
 Computer skills including the use of MS Office
 At least two years experience in a busy working environment.

Job Title: Technical Field Officers (02)



About this Job:

Position title: Two Technical Field Officers.

Reports to: Deputy Director Technical Services

Purpose: The Field technical officers will support implementation of DOTS in Kampala division. The officers will also support the implementation of TB/HIV and MDR TB activities in the division. The two officers will work alongside the Zonal TB/Leprosy supervisors as well as the divisional TB focal persons to ensure quality delivery of TB services. This will be through conducting trainings, support supervision/ mentoring of health workers and participation in quarterly meetings, and ensure that patients are started on DOT The officers will participate in monitoring and evaluation activities.

Main duties:
 Participate in planning for activities at divisional level in Kampala district
 Provide technical support for implementation of DOT, TB-HIV and MDR-TB activities in project area.
 Strengthens networks and referrals systems to improve access to, coverage and utilization of DOT, HIWTB and MDR-TB services.
 Participate in supervision of health facilities in Kampala in liaison with the Zonal TB/leprosy supervisor of Kampala and the division TB focal persons.
 Prepare and participate in training related activities and on job support and mentoring activities.
 Compile activity reports for trainings, workshops and all activities implemented.
 Support and compile TB epidemiological data on a monthly basis
 Organize, support and participate in quarterly TB meetings.
 Participate in projects’ monitoring and evaluation activities, including field visits.
 Participate in compiling project reports.
 Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.


Requirement:

Profile of expected competencies
 A medical doctor with postgraduate qualifications in public health or other.
 Must possess technical expertise in TB control for about 2 years with experience in implementation of the Stop TB Strategy in Uganda.
 Conversant with TB technical support supervision, and other quality improvement approaches
 Excellent oral and written communication skills; as well as computer skills
 Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills.
 Demonstrated intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
