MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND WORKING EXPERIENCE:
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an honors degree in Social work and Social Administration or ,
Community Psychology or Arts or Social Science or and any relevant course in Humanities from a
recognized University.
Possession of post graduate qualification in relevant field will be added advantage
At least 2 years working experience at Officer level in child care and protection work with the Civil Society
or Government departments.
He/she should have the following Key competences: knowledge of community structures and system;
good interpersonal relations , oral and written communication, community mobilization skills; capacity in
planning and budgeting for community development programs, ability to build capacity of CBOs, and other
community led groups to implement their mandate; data collection, documentation and reporting writing
skills, coaching and mentoring skills; proven integrity and confidentiality; and ability to work well under
pressure meet deadlines and with limited supervision.
DUTIES:-
The incumbent will be responsible to the Supervisor Orphans and Vulnerable Children for performing the
following duties:-
Planning and budgeting for OVC programs in the urban council.
Organizing local communities to effectively participate in child care initiatives.
Sensitizing communities and NGOs/CBOs on the rights of children and on child care and protection
issues.
Carrying out the probation and welfare function at urban council level.
Building the capacity of CBOs, OVC protection committees and other related community structures.
Providing psychological support, arbitration and counseling to families.
Promoting participation of OVC in development initiatives.
Monitoring child related interventions.
Disseminating OVC policy, OVC quality service standards and other resource materials on child care
and protection to communities and NGOs/CBOs.
Inspecting child care institutions/babies homes.
Generating quality and timely monthly reports and data within the urban council.
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
