AGE: 28 YEARS AND ABOVE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND WORKING EXPERIENCE:
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or Development
Studies or Community/Rural Development Studies or Social Work and Social Administration or any other
course in the field of Gender or Community Development from a recognized University; a postgraduate
Diploma in a related field will be an added advantage.
Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years working experience in community development work with
the Civil Society or relevant NGO work or Government departments 3 years of which should have been
gained at Senior or Supervisory level in Government or equivalent level of relevant working experience
from a reputable organization.
He/she should have the following Key competences: ability to lead and supervise others, guiding and
developing subordinates; good Intra/ interpersonal, communication, community mobilization skills; data
collection, documentation and reporting writing skills; capacity to engage development partners, capacity
in promoting community development and enhance participation in government programs; knowledge of
community structures and systems; proven integrity and confidentiality; ability to put up a team to
enhance performance, and ability to work well under pressure meet deadlines and with limited
supervision.
DUTIES:-
The incumbent will be responsible to the Manager Gender and Community Services for performing the
following duties:-
Coordinating the effective delivery of community based development programs at division level.
Supervising and monitoring the activities of NGOs, Community-Based Organizations community
centers, vocational training institutions, children remand homes and other community establishments
and division level.
Coordinating and providing support supervision to and other stakeholders on matters regarding
community development.
Ensuring that approved plans are implemented in a timely manner and according to approved
budgets.
Ensuring that gender sensitive plans are developed and implemented programs are gender
mainstreamed.
Implementing social development programs and mobilizing communities to participate effectively.
Coordinating the process of generating quality and timely monthly reports and data from the field
programs.
Supervising and developing competencies of supervised staff.
Monitoring and evaluating implementation of national and local laws and policies on social
development.
Advising urban councils on policy and related matters regarding gender, labour and social
development.
Managing the discharge of statutory obligations regarding community care, protection and welfare;
Supervising the registration and promotion of community development groups.
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
