Job Title: Legal Officer

About this Job:
MIFUMI is a development and Women’s Rights NGO working to strengthen community based and civil society responses to Gender Based Violence(GBV) and has been promoting protection for, and supporting the needs of women and children affected by Domestic Violence across eastern Uganda since 1999 through a multi-agency approach. MIFUMI, through the UN Joint Programme on Gender Equality, is collaborating with UNFPA, MGLSD, MoH and the respective District Local Authorities and Regional Referral Hospitals among other partners in 3 districts of Mbarara, Moroto and Masaka, to implement an Integrated GBV Prevention and Response Services Programme in those 3 districts among others; to render support to victims of Sexual and Gender Based Violence. MIFUMI also in partnership with International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) is also scaling up her interventions to address Intimate Partner Violence in Bukedea district

Title: Legal Officer
Location: Tororo Positions: 1
The major role of the legal officer will be to oversee all the legal aspects of activities undertaken in MIFUMI.

Requirement:
Qualifications, Competence and skills
The candidate should have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Law and must possess a practicing certificate with a minimum of at least 2 years’ work experience in a related field.
proficiency with computing, and a keen interest in human rights especially women’s rights.
The candidate should have a high problem solving acumen, be passionate about activities that help marginalized people, especially women and children suffering domestic violence, and be able to relate well with colleagues and manage teams.
Among others, the successful candidate will be required to collaborate and engage with all the relevant government departments and CSOs in the districts towards the success of the programme.

The basic role of the driver is to be responsible for operating passenger motor vehicles in accordance with supervisor’s instructions to transport personnel to different areas.

Requirement:
QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCES AND SKILLS
Completion of Ordinary Level education is required, vocational training in general automotive mechanic is desirable.
Three years of driving experience is required and must have a valid Driver’s license, Classes B, and DL
Must have good working knowledge in English language and a local language in the area of interest.
Detailed knowledge of the traffic laws and rules of the road, knowledge of defensive driving techniques sufficient to exercise special precaution and take evasive action to protect passengers.
Capability to exercise defensive driving skills under strain.
Mechanical ability to identify vehicle malfunctions and perform minor repair and maintenance.
