Job Description


UEGCL, a limited liability company incorporated in March 2001 with the Head Office located in Jinja, is one of the UEB successor companies. UEGCL’s key role is to oversee the efficient production of electricity power through power plant development and concession monitoring.
UEGCL seeks to fill the following vacant position:

Reports To : Managing Director
Duty station : Jinja
Key role: Support UEGCL’s operations by using all forms of media and communication to build, maintain and manage the reputation, goodwill and understanding between UEGCL and the public.
Main responsibilities:
 Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies
 Liaising with and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organisations
 Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
 Writing and editing in-house speeches, articles and coordinating the preparation of annual reports
 Preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, and multimedia programmes
 Organising events including press conferences, exhibitions and press tours
 Liaising with the ICT section to maintain and update information on the UEGCL’s website
 Fostering community relations through involvement in community initiatives
 Establishing the concerns and expectations of an UEGCL’s stakeholders, report and explain the findings to management
Minimum qualifications and experience
 Bachelors degree majoring in Mass Communications or Communication Skills from a recognized University.
 Five years relevant experience from a reputable organization
 Computer literacy
Others:
 Postgraduate training in Mass Communications or Communication Skills will be an added advantage
 Knowledge of the energy sector is an added advantage
 Valid driving permit

Key role : To ensure the proper management and utilization project of funds.

Main responsibilities:
• Liaising with Management during the preparation of UEGCL budgets.
• Verifying and approving financial transactions regarding projects.
• Providing technical advice to management on matters regarding the budget, finances, financial management and accountability.
• Ensuring the timely preparation of financial statements and reports.
• Providing answers to any audit queries regarding financial transactions.
• Developing management control systems and mechanisms for the efficient and effective utilization of the financial resources of the company and for proper financial accountability.

Minimum qualifications and experience
• Bachelors’ Degree majoring in Accounting from a recognized University
• Membership to a professional accounting body
• Eight years’ relevant experience in a reputable organization

Job Title: Assistant Project Manager

Job Description


UEGCL, a limited liability company incorporated in March 2001 with the Head Office located in Jinja, is one of the UEB successor companies. UEGCL’s key role is to oversee the efficient production of electricity power through power plant development and concession monitoring.
UEGCL seeks to fill the following vacant position:

Reports To : Project Manager
Duty station : Kampala but most of the time working upcountry
Key role : Monitor to ensure compliance with the agreed responsibilities in accordance with
the project implementation plan for the Karuma Hydro Power project.

The responsibilities shall not only be limited to Karuma Hydropower plant but shall include the related Transmission Line, RAP implementation and any other aspects as may be deemed necessary by UEGCL.

Main responsibilities:
 General project management and monitoring as well as provision of specialist advice and site supervision of delicate tasks.
 Liaise with the consultant to confirm the Contractor’s Drawings, review of the Contractor’s Quality Assurance Programme (QAP) and Quality Control Programme (QCP).
 Monitoring the procurements related to the project, witnessing factory acceptance tests and carrying out workshop inspections.
 Coordination of the project implementation works in liaison with the HPDU and other Project Implementation Unit staff.
 Supervise the site move-out process according to the agreed terms of project closure.
 Prepare a comprehensive Operation & Maintenance Preparations.
 Preparation of reports.
Minimum qualifications and experience
 Bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management, from a recognized university.
 Post graduate qualification in project management
 Membership to a professional body
 Five years relevant experience in hydro power plants construction and project management
 The applicant must have managed a project of the similar complexity i.e. at least 200MW in the last ten (10) years.
 Computer literacy
The assignment shall be on contract basis for a duration of three (3) years
