Job Title: Public Relations Officer
UEGCL, a limited liability company incorporated in March 2001 with the Head Office located in Jinja, is one of the UEB successor companies. UEGCL’s key role is to oversee the efficient production of electricity power through power plant development and concession monitoring.
UEGCL seeks to fill the following vacant position:
Reports To : Managing Director
Duty station : Jinja
Key role: Support UEGCL’s operations by using all forms of media and communication to build, maintain and manage the reputation, goodwill and understanding between UEGCL and the public.
Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies
Liaising with and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organisations
Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
Writing and editing in-house speeches, articles and coordinating the preparation of annual reports
Preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, and multimedia programmes
Organising events including press conferences, exhibitions and press tours
Liaising with the ICT section to maintain and update information on the UEGCL’s website
Fostering community relations through involvement in community initiatives
Establishing the concerns and expectations of an UEGCL’s stakeholders, report and explain the findings to management
Minimum qualifications and experience
Bachelors degree majoring in Mass Communications or Communication Skills from a recognized University.
Five years relevant experience from a reputable organization
Postgraduate training in Mass Communications or Communication Skills will be an added advantage
Knowledge of the energy sector is an added advantage
Valid driving permit
