Job Title: Engineer – Backup Administration (Symantec NetBackup)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure success of backup and restore.
Ensure the integrity of backups for both local and remote sites.
Work with software and hardware vendors to troubleshoot and solve backup issues.
Monitor system backups and re-run as necessary and process restore requests.
Review system logs to identify signs of potential problems.
Responsible for keeping documentation of the backup infrastructure up to date and maintaining an accurate hardware and software inventory related to backup.
Provide metrics to management for use in trending.
Ensure submission of daily, weekly and monthly report to the management on the backup status.
Ensure knowledge database is populated with resolutions, workarounds and known issues.
Maintain regular tape rotation cycle for local and offsite storage of media.* Perform database maintenance of backup software.
Work with other IT groups and the business to make sure all backups are performed in accordance with business policies and the law.
Place hardware service calls and schedule regular maintenance on backup hardware.
Responsible for the security of tape media.
Perform test restores on a regular basis.
Qualifications:

Experience with advanced Net Backup configuration required (i.e.  De duplication).
Mandatory Required: 2+ years of extensive experience with Symantec’s NetBackup 7.0 & 7.1.
Minimum of two years computer systems experience.
Experience with HP MSL / ESL / Storagetek SL500, SL150 Tape Libraries and LTO3/LTO4/LTO5 technologies a plus.
Experience with VMware backups a plus.
Excellent customer service skills and service orientation.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruption.
Ability to work independently and to know when to ask for assistance.
Ability to solve problems and to communicate how to solve these problems to others.
Candidate will be required to participate in the weekly on-call rotation.
Must be able to extend working hours for organization need.

Educate! is seeking an ambitious, strategic, and organized Deputy Country Director to be partners with the Country Director to manage all Uganda operations.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young people, at least 8 years work experience, have managed and led a team of at least 10 in a larger organization, and possess strong HR and operations management skills in order to grow Educate! in the next several years.  With strong performance, the position will be quickly promoted into the Country Director role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Country Strategy and Leadership:  Working with the Country Director and Executive Director, oversee organization strategy with a focus on results management and systems development, and ensure annual performance goals are set, reviewed quarterly, and achieved.  Create processes to include staff feedback and data-driven recommendations into strategic decision-making.
Internal & External Communications: Ensure proper communication within Uganda and with the U.S. based on organization-wide communication plan so that all key stakeholders know everything necessary to achieve their objectives.  Maintain key external relationships and increase the organization’s local advisory board by 30%.
Human Resource & Operational Systems Management: Build an HR and administrative infrastructure, including policies and procedures that can handle a doubling of staff.
Oversee that Human Resource policies are documented, communicated, and upheld.
Ensure that every staff has documented key functional areas, job descriptions, and performance objectives.
Diagnose any staffing or capacity gaps early and resolve quickly. Recruit to fill all empty positions with high caliber people recruited through a rigorous process
Manage, develop, and evaluate a team of department managers and program director, ensuring 80% staff retention.
Fiduciary Oversight: Ensure financial systems are sound and up to best-in-class audit standards. Oversee financial management of Educate!’s Uganda operations, including cost-containment on expenditures, timely and accurate monthly financial reporting, budgeting and financial controls.
Research & Evaluation Oversight: Manage research and evaluation personnel to ensure termly reporting on three programs.
Qualifications:

Have spent at least one year living in Sub-Saharan Africa and have educational experience outside of Uganda.  Candidates who are East African or have experience working in Uganda are strongly encouraged to apply.

Educate! is seeking an ambitious, strategic, and organized Program Manager to be partners with the Program Director to manage the implementation of the Educate! Experience program at 40 secondary schools across Uganda. The ideal candidate will have a passion for educating young people, at least 4 years work experience, managed a team of field staff, possess strong people management and development skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Strategy & Planning: Create and manage yearly strategic program plan based on M&E data, research, and field staff and program coordinator feedback.
Translate program strategy objectives into measurable staff activities, products, lessons, and results.
Network and research as necessary for new program initiatives
Manage 16 staff to a detailed work plan of annual and quarterly performance goals
Structure staff roles for maximum productivity and restructure responsibilities as necessary during program change cycles.

Staff Professional Development: Increase the capacity of 3 Program Coordinators in management and 13 field staff in best practices of youth development.  Train program coordinators in areas of people/project management, and budgeting. Oversee field staff training in youth counseling, enterprise creation, and interactive teaching.
Reporting & Management: Use regular budget reports and termly student performance reports to improve program effectiveness.
Manage an annual program budget of 53,000 USD cost-effectively to ensure proper prioritization of expenses and limited variance.
Actively monitor field staff performance to troubleshoot problems and enforce program quality control standards
Collaborate with M&E department to determine key result areas and manage systems to track progress along program milestones
Facilitate the randomized control trial evaluation of 24 partner school program sites and a 60 person entrepreneurship trainer’s course in partnership with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA)
Partnership Coordination: Ensure strong school partnerships and consistent feedback loops between partners and the administrative support staff to ensure 90% school retention.
Qualifications:
