Job Title: Business Development Expert

Job Description

Closing date:  08 May 2012

An exciting high profile job opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Expert with ICCO Alliance, Central and Eastern Africa Regional Office. The Business Development Expert is responsible for exploring financing models and business solutions for our programs, create sustainable relations and transfer these into financial results. He/she is responsible for generating leads for new strategic partnerships with public and private institutions who wish to get involved in ICCO Alliance’s work within region.

The ICCO Alliance is a group of Dutch faith-based organizations for international development cooperation. Its members are ICCO, KerkinActie, Edukans, Oikocredit, Prisma, Share people, Yente and Zeister Zendingsgenootschap. Our passion is to end poverty and injustice in service of a full and dignified life for all. Besides supporting development work we do advocacy, communications and fundraising.

Worldwide, the reality of 2.5 billion people living on less than $ 2 a day is one of persistent poverty, deepening inequality, violence, insecurity and environmental destruction. ICCO Alliance has therefore adopted an entrepreneurial Innovator approach because we believe that entrepreneurship that has helped economies to flourish also helps societies to flourish. We also believe that the dominant institutions of the world are conservative and that the major push for innovative change comes through political, social and economic entrepreneurship. We do not approach people as victims that need aid, but as people with skills and resources that need to be given the opportunity to develop themselves. We believe in the power of people to create their own change. We use a ‘pull-strategy’ aligning with academic institutions and companies globally to involve them and explore their innovative potential to create sustainable solutions. We work with partners who also value social venturing and entrepreneurship as the key to change. The ICCO Alliance approach is therefore a comprehensive approach focusing on business development support, access to finance and creating innovative models.

We work in 44 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and have seven Regional Offices spread around the world.
