Job Title: Senior Accountant.
Duties & Responsibilities:
 Cash balancing per day, making sure that cash received and paid out physically matches book cash.
 Preparing salaries on time every month with appropriate deductions.
 Entering and reviewing payment vouchers, receipts, invoices & reconciling all statements of accounts.
 Preparing and filing VAT returns, paying PAYE and NSSF.
 Ensuring proper, neat & labelled filing of all documents.
 Reconciliation of bank statements.
 Balancing and banking cash without discrepancies.
 Preparing daily bank balances & checking forex rates.
 Preparing Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, Trial Balances & Ratio analysis on the ‘health’ of the business.
 Attending debt collection meetings, setting debt collection targets and people responsible and ensuring target collection.
 Providing URA with information required for statutory audits.
 Stock taking and stock reconciliation in coordination with storekeepers.
 Setting Roles and Responsibilities for accounts assistants and monitoring that their work is done accurately and on time.
 Coordinating with the imports/ exports department to ensure that all documentation is kept by the accounts department, goods received/gone out are entered into TALLY and costing is done.
 You will be asked to do some other work not related to your field from time to time in the area of administration.
Qualifications and Skills
 A bachelors degree in Accounting and finance.
 CPA is an added advantage.
 Knowledge in Tally.ERP9 software.
 Two (2) years working experience.

 Creating job descriptions and role profiles for vacancies.
 Looking through existing applications in file to find CV’s matching the candidate profile.
 Drafting job adverts or liaising with a recruitment consultant to identify the candidate.
 Doing the initial short listing of candidates.
 Arranging interviews and interviewing.

 Keeping all staff data in an organised manner. This will include appointment letters, warnings, correspondence, bio data, etc.

 Preparing time attendance reports as desired.

 Dealing with staff issues, complaints and suggestions quickly and appropriately.

 Ensuring that the company’s insurance policies are valid, dealing with insurance claims and all related issues.
 Dealing with maintenance issues, for example, plumbing issues, issues to do with NWSC, UMEME, Telephone PABX, Internet.
 Keeping records of and dealing with employees’ annual leave, sick leave, unpaid leave, absenteeism, etc.
 Issuing and taking disciplinary action as defined by the company.
