ZOA Uganda is an International Christian Non-Governmental Organisation for Humanitarian and Rehabilitation Assistance. Our mission is to assist in rebuilding the livelihoods of peoples in Acholi and Karamoja regions who are affected by warfare, conflict or natural disaster. We operate in 17 countries in Africa and Asia. For our Pader Programme, we wish to recruit for the following positions:

MANAGER VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND AGRICULTURE RELATED INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITIES
Duty station: Pader

Supervisor: Programme Manager Pader
Starting date: ASAP

Together with our partner CCF Pader, ZOA implements this EU funded project. The objective of the project is to increase the capacity of marginalized people and farmer groups to access sustainable livelihoods, social services and participate in decision making.

CCF and ZOA will work together with three vocational training centres to train youth in market driven vocational skills, provide community based agricultural income generating skills and promote a business attitude.

Responsibilities:

•    Plan and implement activities and/or facilitates implementation of the Vocation Training and agric livelihood projects

•    Ensure monitoring and reporting of projects in line with donor requirements

•    Contribute to preparation and planning of projects and provide input for new proposals

•    Motivate and stimulate and supervise staff working on allocated projects

•    Mentor and coach the partners and vocational training centers and engage in organizational development of the organizations

•    Build and maintain good relationships with local authorities, other organizations and actors linking to the relevant sector.

Requirements:

•    Degree in agriculture oragri- business or other relevant field

•    At least three years field experience in the sectors vocational training, income generating and/or organisational development of rural institutes

•    Motivated to coach and work with rural vocational training centres.

•    Familiar with Project Cycle Management Person profile

For the above position we are looking for a stable personality, who enjoys working with little supervision and in a dynamic environment. (S) he should have the ability to endure some hardship.

TASKS – Under the guidance and supervision of the

Project Coordination Team, each national expert will:

•    Deliver within the assigned college a comprehensive program of training and coaching on the practical side of teaching and learning covering all college teaching staff.

•    Organize, coordinate & supervise the implementation of project activities as per approved work plans.

•    Provide the specialist knowledge, expertise and experience of modern, active teaching & learning and other learner-centered approaches necessary to bring about a paradigm shift in the way teaching and learning is organized and provided in the Colleges.

•    Identify with the College management a number of mentor teachers covering the main broad subject fields.

•    Advise, coach and provide top-up on-the-job training, supervision, guidance and support to the mentor teachers, and guidance to the regular teachers, with a view to improving the effectiveness of their teaching through the adoption of active teaching & learning and other learner-centered methods.

•    Organize regular workshops with college staff to review progress, deliver further information/guidance, and troubleshoot any difficulties experienced by teachers in relation to teaching and learning.

•    Undertake regular class observations and provide feedback and guidance to the teachers, and participate in the practicum activities.

•    Assist in the design, preparation, adaptation and refinement of teaching materials for college teaching staff.

•    Introduce throughout the college the “course manual preparation” approach into the college.

•    Advise-, the College management and’ MOES on mlattefs1 related to the  improvement process – including its successes and its challenges.

•    Take a leading role in the dissemination by the College of successes and good practices to other colleges, 1 including institutions not supported by the project.

•    Any other tasks that may be prescribed from time to time, necessary to achieve improvement in teaching i and learning and to reach the Project objectives.

MINIMUM PROFILE:

•    A Master degree in education

•    A teaching qualification

•    At least 7 years of proven successful teaching experience at Secondary and/or BTVET levels

Proven, successful experience in teachers / instructors / health tutors’ education is an asset

•    Proven expertise in the practical side’ of teaching & learning, using modern ATL approaches

•    Good communicator and facilitator

•    Fluent in English

•    Able to bear stress and haying no objection to  working overtime

Job Description


The Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA) has received a Grant from the World Bank, acting as administrator of grant funds provided by various donors under the Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDTF), toward the cost of the Support to Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa and intends to apply part of the proceeds for hire of consultant for recruitment services.

Main objective of the consultancy.

The objective of this consultancy is to provide recruitment services for the following positions:

Scope of work

The contracted consultant/organization will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Design a suitable advertisement based on the agreed job description for placement in the media
2. Receive profile and develop a long list of qualified candidates while demonstrating transparency in the process of approaching potential candidates.
3. Prepare an initial report on the long list to be shared with management and participate in developing a shortlist.
4. Conduct psychometric tests and other relevant tests that will bring out the strengths and any capacity development gaps of the shortlisted candidates
5. Prepare appropriate interview questions for review by management
6. Present the shortlisted candidates for interview
7. Conduct background check on the shortlisted candidates
8. Prepare a detailed final report after the interviews
