Vacancy Notice no: VN-01-06-11 Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda Position title: Nurse II (Clinical Nurse) Duration of Appointment: Six months with possibility of extension.

General functions: Under the direct supervision of the Head of IOM Migration Health Assessment Center - Kampala, the incumbent will be responsible for performing required routine clinical tasks/procedures in connection with the health assessment and treatment to ensure that identified refugees and migrants are medically fit to migrate in accordance wit the medical/health requirements of the receiving countries. The incumbent shall perform the following essential functions:

   1. Performs routine clinical tasks required by the Migration Health Physician during Migration Health Assessments, in particular: taking and recording medical history, performing anthropometrics, visual acuity and vital signs measurements.
   2. Compiles medical records, files, charts, X-ray films, decoded laboratory results prior to physical examination.
   3. Authenticates the identity of refugee/migrant, prior to clinical or radiology examinations.
   4. Identify refugees/migrants and supervise them during sputum collection.
   5. Assists the MHP during actual physical examinations.
   6. Administers prescriptions/recommendations ordered by the Migration Health Physicians, including application of appropriate treatment.
   7. Prepares, install or sterilizes medical equipment needed for medical examination.
   8. Performs pre-departure medical checks and administers treatment, including vaccination as required for refugees/migrants.
   9. Prepares a report on therapeutic procedures administered to migrants, in accordance with the requirements of resettlement countries.
  10. Participates in field missions in out of duty stations and act as nurse escort for medical cases.
  11. Maintains confidentiality of information and collaborative relationship with clients, partners and health professionals.
  12. Performs any other duties that may be assigned by from time to time.

Desirable Qualifications: Education, experience and competencies:

   1. Diploma in Nursing with a minimum of 3 years work experience in clinical nursing preferably in a medical facility or International NGO, UN Organizations
   2. Previous work experience with IOM in resettlement and migration health assessments is an advantage.
   3. Work experience within Refugee and migrant setting is a added advantage.
   4. Training and experience in TB, STDs, other communicable diseases and migration health
   5. Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality in performing responsibilities
   6. Required IOM functional competencies: effective communicator, successful negotiator, creative and analytical thinker, active learner, team player, and cross cultural facilitator.
   7. Proficient in Microsoft office, internet, and outlook
   8.

      Thorough knowledge of English and Kiswahili.
