Context/Scope:
EABL is the leading Drinks Company in Eastern Africa with a wide portfolio of products in various categories of beer, spirits, glass, barley, malt and other non-alcoholic drinks. EABL is quoted in all the three East African Stock exchanges and has operations across East Africa
Purpose of Role:
• Assists in the analysis of financial data and extracts and defines relevant information, interprets data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and or to project a financial probability.
• To compile, maintain, and provide timely, relevant, and accurate financial performance data to Operations Team, cost improvement team, and other departments as needed. In doing so, this individual will perform the monthly accounting close process (including Material Ledger & PL5a), prepare and update monthly reports, and track performance against projections.
• Work with operations and maintenance department personnel to understand cost impacts of operations, work on implementing corrective action plans to improve cost performance, investigate data and operational inconsistencies, prepare and analyze monthly financial and operational reports.
• Manage the fixed asset ledger through continuous tracking , reporting and reconciliation as well as annual verification of fixed assets and empties. Prepare cash capex monthly.
• Manage the entire inventory ledger through tracking, reporting, verification and reconciliation process.
• Ensure monthly & daily stock reconciliations are prepared and circulated. Any variances highlighted should have a clear action for resolution.
• Ensure adequate preparations and resourcing for a successful month/year end stock-take process. Review stock take files and compare losses vs plan. Ensure adequate explanations for the variances. Monitor stock obsolescence to ensure adequate provisioning.
• Prepare Capex and inventory BPM schedules for consolidation to the UBL supply BPM Pack.
• Work closely with the supply chain team to ensure accurate reporting and tracking of distribution costs. Follow up on DHL warehouse & transit breakages for timely recovery as well as monitor stock obsolescence to ensure adequate provisioning.
• Understand finance process end to end as well as good understanding of SAP processes in the manufacturing, OTC and Logistics.
Top Accountabilities:
1) Own the development and roll-out of financial processes focused on excellence in Capital expenditure appraisal ensuring maximum returns for the business
2) Drive the execution and realisation of business strategy in inventory management and process control.
3) Support the business on its continued drive to reduce COGs per HL (Brand value enhancement & material optimisation)
4) Provide financial decision support to the business for adhoc projects and initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
• Graduate qualified accountant or a degree preferably in business field; MBA would be an added advantage.
• Chartered Accountant/ACCA/CPA qualified (or equivalent)
• SAP knowledge in Manufacturing, PTP, and OTC
• Sound people management skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge a team to deliver results Experience of working with staff at all levels in an organization
• Knowledge of the key aspects of a finance function, including financial accounting and reporting requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of Excel
• Experience in inventory management
• Demonstrate understanding of accounting principles and policies and how they can be applied to optimise performance and control risk
