Chief of Party, Uganda

We are currently seeking a Chief of Party for an anticipated USAID-funded Feed the Future activity in Uganda titled START-VC. The Value Chain development (START-VC) will contribute to increasing the quantity and improving the quality of output produced and marketed by smallholder farmers. The START-VC project will also generate jobs (both on- and off-farm) and stimulate rural enterprise development. This project will focus on the three value chains identified in the Uganda Feed the Future (FTF) Strategy- coffee, maize, and beans.

Responsibilities: • Provide technical leadership in one or more of the following program areas: producer group development, post-harvest handling, value chain competitiveness, market development. • Assume responsibility for overall contract management ensuring quality control and timeliness of all deliverables. • Serve as principal liaison with USAID staff, institutions and client country partners to exchange information and develop professional relationships. • Ensure effective finance, progress, and donor reports, compliance with donor and ACDI/VOCA regulations, and efficient utilization of program staff and resources. • Make verbal or written presentations as requested by the COTR to varied audiences

Qualifications: • Previous experience in one or more of the above mentioned project technical areas as well as knowledge of one of the three targeted sub-sectors: maize, beans and coffee.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant and progressive work experience in developing countries. • At least five years of project management experience. Previous USAID COP experience preferred. • MS, MBA, or other post-graduate degree in a relevant field. • Fluency in English is required.
