Position: Regional Project Coordinator:(Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF)





Background:
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing pediatric HIV infection and eliminating pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention, care, and treatment programs.
                                 

Title:  Regional Project Coordinator
Location:  Based in Uganda, Swaziland or Zimbabwe
Primary Manager:  Project Director

Position Details:
We are recruiting a Regional Project Coordinator to oversee activities for a project focused on Increasing Access, Retention, and Follow-up of PMTCT services at the Community Level, taking place in three countries in the African region. Working under the Project Director, s/he will assist with the design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of the project, as well as operational research activities in the three project countries.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Working with teams in the three countries, as well as with global and regional staff, s/he will:

Project Implementation

Coordinate development of work-plans as well as piloting and refinement of project tools across the three countries.
Provide guidance and support for effective implementation in the three project countries
Ensure that country teams engage officials from the MOH and DHMT as well as local stakeholders and civil society groups at the community level  during the project’s design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation
Participate in technical discussions with the project management team
Operations Research

Ensure all local project activities are in alignment with project requirements for the three implementation countries
Participate in design of baseline assessments and ensure high quality data collection
Participate in OR protocol development and the national IRB submissions for research activities
Ensure the development of community advisory groups in the three countries to support design and implementation of the operations research activities for the project
Ensure project compliance to all research requirements, particularly protection of human subjects
Project Management

Closely liaise with Country Project Coordinators as well as the Project Director to provide regular information and updates on country progress related to the project
Communicate with the EGPAF Global office (Agreement Manager, Research, Program, M&E, and Operations)
Coordinate the drafting and submission of country level project reports to the Project Director and Agreement Manager.
Qualifications

A Masters degree preferably in the field of public health, environmental health, community nursing or a social sciences related field such as Sociology, Gender Studies or Anthropology
7-10 years of proven experience working with health programs, particularly relating to PMTCT and maternal and child health in Africa
3-5 years experience working with operations research
Ability to travel 50% of the time
Ability to work as needed on evenings and weekends
All applicants will be expected to undergo a criminal background check
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Good knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS issues in Africa
Knowledge of research methodologies, research ethics
Strong written and verbal skills
Strong analytical skills
Ability to effectively work as part of a team
Ability and willingness to undertake frequent travel
Fluency in English required
