Oxfam Novib, a member of Oxfam Confederation active in Uganda is looking for a:

Logistics – Full-time position based in Gulu

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the logistics officer is:

To ensure efficient support in logistics and security for the operations of the Project for the 4 Project partners;
To ensure efficient support in logistics and security for visitors to the Project;
To provide administrative and clerical support for running the Project Office;
To co-ordinate with Oxfam Country office Kampala on relevant logistics and security matters, such as Oxfam staff visiting the Project from abroad;


Main tasks

To ensure sufficient support in logistics of field operations by the Internet Now! project staff of the 4 Project partners including planning of the use of vehicles and drivers;
To monitor and ensure adherence with safety regulations (security, first aid equipment and fire safety) for the Project office and for the operations in the field of the Internet Now! project staff of the 4 Project partners;
To provide or facilitate first aid response to Internet Now! project staff of the 4 Project partners or visitors to the Project;
To facilitate where necessary in logistical arrangements for visitors to the Project, including HQ staff of the 4 Project partners, Oxfam Country Office Kampala, consultants and other visitors to the Internet Now!  Project;
To facilitate logistical arrangements for Internet Now! project staff of the 4 Project partners traveling abroad such as transportation, travel, accommodation, visas etc.;
To make logistical arrangements for seminars and workshops for the Project such as transportation, travel, accommodation, meals, visas etc.;
To arrange the procurement process for the Project according to the procurement procedures, after consultation and approval by the Oxfam Novib Internet Now! Programme Coordinator;
To initiate new ideas and methods for the improvements of the logistics systems and processes;
To maintain a Fixed Assets register for the Internet Now!  Project office;
To provide general office administrative and clerical support such as managing daily petty cash payments, photocopies, packing materials and small repairs and maintenances. To carry out messenger duties and errands for the benefit of the entire office;
To perform any other relevant duties as at the request of the Oxfam Novib Internet Now! Programme Coordinator.
You have

Minimal 4 years of experience working in an office environment preferably in a context of development work;
A problem solving approach;
Demonstrable integrity, assertiveness, flexibility, accuracy and the ability to cope with pressure;
Experience and knowledge of security management;
A valid first aid certificate;
Understanding of ethics and codes of practice and IHL/ independence/impartiality, respect for Oxfam values;
An active commitment to promoting gender equity and the interests of marginalized people in all aspects of an organization’s work;
Fluency in spoken and written English and Luo;
