About this Job:
Dairy Development Authority (DDA) is a Semi- Autonomous Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF). It is established under the Dairy Industry Act of 1998. Its Mission is “To provide dairy development and regulatory services that will ensure increased production and consumption of milk, sustainable and profitable dairy industry sector; contribute to economic development and improved nutritional standards in Uganda”.
In order to effectively fulfill its mandate, the Authority would like to fill the under listed positions:
Job Title: Senior Laboratory Technician
Reports to: Regulatory Services Manager
Objective of the Job
To ensure that the authority’s laboratory is well equipped and in good functional state to handle all the necessary laboratory tests of sampled milk and dairy products aimed at strengthening quality:control and improvement systems and programmes. ;
Key Functions:
1. Ensure that scientific tests on samples for milk and dairy products < are carried out to ascertain compliance with Uganda standards. \
2. To carry out tests on raw and processed milk and milk products in the field and whenever need arises.
3. Keep clear records of all laboratory results.
4. Carry out export and import pre-shipment inspection of milk and dairy products to ensure that they meet import /export standards.
5. To ensure that laboratory equipment and furniture in a clean and orderly manner.
6. To ensure all the needed laboratory chemicals and equipment are ordered for timely.
7. To prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the Regulatory Services Manager.
8. Carry out any other duties assigned to you by the Regulatory Services Manager.
Requirement:
1. Qualifications and Experience
1. Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Laboratory Technology/ Science Technology or related qualifications.
2. At least 2 years of laboratory experience.
3. Should be computer literate.
4. Should have good interpersonal and communication skills and a team player
