POST:Project Mentors (2 positions)

Duty Station: Jinja, Hoima Uganda
Description:
The objective of this assignment is for the purpose of supporting capacity building activities for routine immunization
service delivery and surveillance in Busoga and Bunyoro regions of Uganda.
Period of performance
Starting immediately for a period of one year from June/July 2012
Key Duties:
• Mentor and support District‐level Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) and surveillance officers in
completion of field projects in Bunyoro and Busoga regions
• Provide supportive supervision and on‐the‐job training of district staff as needed
• Work with regional and district Health teams within the two regions to improve EPI and IDSR performance
• Assist with training immunization Mid‐Level Manager (MLM) and routine immunization Operations Level
modules to District‐level and sub‐district level participants
• Assist with VPD outbreak investigations and response
• Work with EPI and surveillance staff to collect, interpret, and use immunization and IDSR data for improving
service delivery
• Assist EPI staff to develop effective maps and micro‐plans that include plans for outreach sessions to increase
community access to services
Required Qualifications
• Minimum requirements:
o Masters Degree in medical related field preferably MPH
o At least two years experience in routine immunization and/or disease surveillance
• Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with multiple stakeholders.
• Maturity and ability to work independently in unstructured settings and in sometimes challenging
physical conditions would be required.
• Ability and experience in setting priorities, developing action plans, data analysis, mentoring/training
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including proficiency at report writing and presentation
• Good computer skills required and data management experience desirable.
