Job summary:

The Resource Development and Communications Manager is responsible for encouraging, maintaining and enhancing the HFH Ugandans RD&C Department’s relationships with its donors. This position seeks to enhance the Habitat brand in Uganda through strategic communication initiatives with our partners and ensuring consistent messaging of brand and logo. The Manager will perform this role either as a program team lead, a program team member, or as a thematic knowledge manager.
Specifically:

• Work closely with the National Director on strategies for the development of HFH Uganda’s partnerships, with particular reference to resource development opportunities.
• Research external opportunities for support of HFH Uganda particularly in locating, contacting and soliciting, of relevant potentially supportive diaspora and follow up.
• Work in concert with the National Director to identify mechanisms for appropriate relationship building, promotion and marketing.
• Ensuring that mechanisms are in place to enhance HFH Uganda’s image with foundations, corporate, organizations and associations.
• Conduct systematic and ongoing prospecting activities to maintain an adequate pipeline of potential partnerships in Uganda’s geographic territory.
• Qualify prospects and design effective proposals that match HFH Uganda’s strategic plan.
• Write compelling proposals and oversee the development of reports.
• Prepare and present quarterly and annual appreciation reports and updates to communicate the results of the program, celebrate its successes.
• Analyze and define major strategies to expand Habitat Uganda’s role in global arena to maximize return for Habitat.
• Establish strong relationships with AME RD&C team and HFHI global team. Lead the collaborative development efforts among Habitat for Humanity entities.
• Provide accurate activity and pipeline reports and revenue forecasts as required.
• Guide, the strategic direction for communication of HFH Uganda’s plans and accomplishments.
• Develop effective strategies to enhance HFH brand in Uganda, cultivate new communications partnerships and position Habitat as an leader in housing in Uganda.

• Analyze and report on communication impact. Mentor and develop emerging talent among HFH Uganda team.
• Function as an executive contact in key partnerships and prospects throughout the programme.
• Maintain integrity of content used in editorial and marketing communications materials published by and within AME.
• Edit, amend and rewrite materials to raise awareness about Habitat activities and for homeowners and partners, in multimedia or broadcast channels; in external publications; and/ or in Habitat publications and outlets.
• Research and originate stories (occasionally involving field trips), scripts, presentations, marketing and advertising copy as required.

Requirement:
Skills Requirements:
• Strong English language writing and editing skills, preferably of an editor’s eye for detail.
• 3-5 years of experience grant/proposal writing. Ideal candidates will also have experience writing proposals for or working with specific donors such as USAID, EU, World Bank.
. Ability to work in cross functional teams and reporting to a variety of donors.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong computer skills including Internet Explorer, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Access.
• Creative thinker needed for the creation and formulation of plans, contracts and proposal; intensive research, using both written and electronic means; ability to quickly and accurately assess and qualify donor prospects.
• Willingness to communicate and affirm the Christian principles of Habitat for Humanity.
