The Company, a leading Uganda-registered welding and fabrication business, is looking for an experienced sheet metal fabrication Supervisor to work on and manage projects, in the Kampala area and elsewhere around Uganda. The successful applicant will be responsible for all shop floor production activity and construction projects. The company handles many industrial sized and smaller scale metal construction projects, therefore jobs vary in scale and use small and large/heavy materials and machinery on a regular basis. Most projects involve multiple workers on a site but on smaller projects, there may be only one worker present to perform a task. The company is an equal opportunity employer. Job Description

The Candidate will be accountable for:

• Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings, engineering symbols and understanding and appreciating geometric tolerances and the ability to turn these into a quality finished product, on time, within budget, accident-free

•• Providing manufacturing and engineering support to our production personnel

• Prioritizing and executing engineering activities in sheet metal production operations

• Developing and maintaining the sheet metal production shop floor and project sites

• Developing and maintaining the sheet metal production areas manufacturing instructions

• Tooling/fixture design and improvements to existing tooling and fixtures

• investigation and corrective action regarding quality issues related to the project management

• Providing document control support to the administration department

• Technical liaison with customers, quality personnel, and supervisory staff

• Supporting the introduction of new equipment into the facility

• Supporting the Company in its continuous quality improvement initiatives

• Strong understanding and experience in welding techniques, particularly in sheet metal structures and piping

• Ensuring strict adherence to our stringent Health and Safety Standards, leading from the front, including working with our HSE professionals to maintain standards.

Requirement:
Person description

• Minimum of 5-10 years of recent experience in metal construction/production supervision within a team-oriented environment

• Ability to be flexible whilst still fitting in to a structured, big-

• Strong inter-personal and management skills, including shop floor disputes management -

• Good telephone manner, the ability to interact with clients and discuss and problem-solve with them

• Must have previous, clearly demonstrable sheet metal construction and piping experience and be fully experienced with all common, workshop and machine shop tooling

• Must be able to use basic computer software including MS Office, Excel, Project, email and internet

• Abide by established policies and procedures and adhere to plans, methods, deadlines and priorities

• Lift 50 pounds in weight; walk/stand much of the working

day and be based in a noisy machine shop environment the 1 majority of the time

• Ability to work in an extremely safety-conscious environment

• Able to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

• Flexible for upcountry trips and on-site supervision, often in hostile and remote environments for extended periods.

• Car driving license mandatory, light truck license will Be an additional benefit

• Good spoken and written English essential, other additional, vernacular languao.es useful.

• Duration of appointment and remuneration: 2.years initially, extendable thereafter by mutual consent, with a competitive remuneration package on offer for the right candidate
