Job Description

Background to National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda(NUDIPU)
The National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) is an umbrella non- governmental organisation of persons with disabilities in Uganda formed in 1987 to advocate for equalisation of persons with disabilities in Uganda by working in collaboration with Government, NGOs and the public.
The aim is to bring PWDs together, create a common and unified voice, break the traditional divisions along medical lines, raise awareness on problems and issues affecting persons with disabilities and mobilise their efforts in developing strategies and implementing courses of action to address identified needs.

Mission: “A unified voice for PWDs,” for the full realization of their rights and inclusive development through support and advocacy.
NUDIPU seeks the services of a qualified individual or firm to provide consultancy services to develop a sustainability plan.
Purpose of Sustainability Plan:
The main purpose of developing the sustainability plan is to ensure continuous promotion of equalisation of opportunities for Persons with Disabilities in the country. This is only possible where organizations activities are made sustainable.
Key roles of the consultant:
a) Facilitate the process of establishing the sustainability goalsforthe organization in relation to social (Maintain a relevant, reputable and vibrant organization; improving understanding of sustainability within and outside), economic (Maintain and enhance the Asset base, ensuring ongoing economic viability plus maintaining and maximizing the utilization of
resources in the organization) and political aspects.
b) . Establish the current sustainability position of the organization by using the relevant sustainability assessment tools.
c) Identify areas for the organization with greatest impact and are likely to reap the greatest potential benefits.
d) Develop strategies to address the sustainability position of the organization.
Expected Outputs:
1. A sustainability strategy, detailing out the key actions to undertake including cost/benefit calculations, targets, budgets and other requisite resources.
2. Monitoring, and Evaluation and reporting framework for the sustainability strategy.
3. Produce a process report on the exercise
Methodology:
The consultant will among other methods use workshops and interviews to generate ideas and reach consensus on strategic direction of the organizations sustainability.
Timeframe:
The assignment is estimated to take 30 calendar days including preparations, delivery of the consultative workshop of 3 days, submission of a draft strategy and final strategy.
Skills:
The consultant should demonstrate practical skills in developing sustainability strategies for national organizations particularly membership organizations or organizations of similar nature. The consultant must have at least five years experience in organizational development or in a related field.
