Reports to: Human Resource Manager
Job Purpose: Ensure that the principal manufacturing practices and employee relations are maintained at all times.
Key responsibilities
Ensure proper working conditions are in place in terms of security, general cleanliness and reinforcing health& safety at all time in the factory
Follow through with work place agreements to ensure a positive, effective and harmonious workplace and relation with management
Mediate and resolve staff conflicts and grievances in the factory.
Manage all the industrial disputes using updated regulations and how they may affect the company decisions.
Help in developing new policies regarding employee classifications, wages in consultation with trade union terms
Follow through with the man-power needs of the factory in terms of permanent and causal staff.
Keep an eye on any developments in employment legislation that might provide opportunities for improving service efficiency and reduce operating costs.
Offer advice or interpretation on issues relating to employment contracts, legislation, workers’ rights and general industrial processes
Represent the company before industrial tribunals and develop information for staff to ensure that the workforce is aware of company policies.
Offer advice regarding standard procedures or specific regulations on industrial occupational health and safety
Staff& Production assistant punctuality and absence management at the factory
Ensure proper verification of all incoming and outgoing of factory related goods/items is effected.
Relay communication between either management or factory staff
Perform any other assignments that may be directly related to industrial relations.
Key competencies
Keen on details, critical and analytical thinking skills
Maintain a knowledge of current industrial legislation
Ability to get on with people from different backgrounds
Effective organizational, written and oral communications skills, including public speaking and negotiation skills
Understanding Employment and Labour law
Dispute resolution and problem solving abilities
Ability to plan, implement and evaluate workplace initiatives
Ability to analyze quantitative information to make effective business decisions
Ability to design new work organizations and manage organizational change
Qualifications:
A degree in Industrial Psychology a post graduate qualification in Human Resource Management is an added advantage
Proven experience of 3 years in management of industrial matters in a rather large industrial set up
