Our client Educate, develops young entrepreneurs and leader in Africa.  It provides a proven mix of an entrepreneurship and leadership course, long term mentoring, and an alumni program that helps high school students start enterprises that address the challenges facing their communities.

Educate! is seeking an ambitious, strategic, and organized Program Manager to be partners with the Program Director to manage the implementation of the Educate! Experience program at 40 secondary schools across Uganda. The ideal candidate will have a passion for educating young people, at least 4 years work experience, managed a team of field staff, possess strong people management and development skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Strategy & Planning: Create and manage yearly strategic program plan based on M&E data, research, and field staff and program coordinator feedback.
Translate program strategy objectives into measurable staff activities, products, lessons, and results.
Network and research as necessary for new program initiatives
Manage 16 staff to a detailed work plan of annual and quarterly performance goals
Structure staff roles for maximum productivity and restructure responsibilities as necessary during program change cycles.

Staff Professional Development: Increase the capacity of 3 Program Coordinators in management and 13 field staff in best practices of youth development.  Train program coordinators in areas of people/project management, and budgeting. Oversee field staff training in youth counseling, enterprise creation, and interactive teaching.
Reporting & Management: Use regular budget reports and termly student performance reports to improve program effectiveness.
Manage an annual program budget of 53,000 USD cost-effectively to ensure proper prioritization of expenses and limited variance.
Actively monitor field staff performance to troubleshoot problems and enforce program quality control standards
Collaborate with M&E department to determine key result areas and manage systems to track progress along program milestones
Facilitate the randomized control trial evaluation of 24 partner school program sites and a 60 person entrepreneurship trainer’s course in partnership with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA)
Partnership Coordination: Ensure strong school partnerships and consistent feedback loops between partners and the administrative support staff to ensure 90% school retention.
Qualifications:

Have spent at least one year living in Sub-Saharan Africa. Candidates who are East African or have experience working in Uganda are strongly encouraged to apply.
Be a mentor who motivates and coaches staff to develop personally and professionally
Be a systems-builder who enjoys organizing and structuring in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment
Be a problem-solver who can manage new and unexpected challenges
Exhibit commitment to the professional development of him/herself
Preferable to have education experience outside of Uganda
Energetic and entrepreneurial motivation for high achievement
Strong project management skills
Passionate to spend his/her life helping teenagers and work with youthful people to make the world a better place
Strong ability to communicate with diverse groups, keep stakeholders informed, & foster mutual respect
