Job Title: Metrologist (Salary Scale UNBS 6)
• Assist in the preparation of measurement schemes for determination of uncertainties and for installation and examination of new instruments
• Assist in training of junior staff in the use of equipment
• Undertake/perform tests and/or calibrations
• Plan calibration work and estimate duration and costs of such work and check calibration results
• Coordinate on-site tests/calibration services
• Assist to ensure calibration programmes of all equipment in the laboratory are met and documented
• Assist in undertaking inter-comparisons in collaboration with other laboratories
• Perform any other relevant duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor or management.
Qualifications and other requirements
• The successful candidate shall have an honours degree in the fields of Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering or Physics from a recognized institution
• Masters qualification in relevant field will be an added advantage
• Must be computer literate with emphasis on MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the use of Internet.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a reputable organisation
• Being conversant with ISO/IEC 17025 Standard and having worked in an accredited laboratory will be an added advantage
Age: Not more than 30 years
The successful candidate needs to be a team player, an excellent communicator with good oral communication and presentation skills.
