Job Title: Protection Field Officer

   

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a neutral and independent international humanitarian organisation, which assists and protects victims of armed conflicts and other situations of violence. The ICRC has an immediate opening for the following position:
Title: Protection Field Officer (M/F)
Duty Stations: Northern Uganda (exact location to be determined in November) with monthly trips to Kampala
Working hours: 48 hours a week
Main responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the ICRC Protection Coordinator (or protection delegate),
Ensure the adequate implementation of the program aimed at addressing the psychosocial needs of targeted communities in Northern Uganda, which have been most affected by the war with the LRA. and in particular, have remained with a high number of persons unaccounted for, with a focus on facilitating memorialization processes.
Networking with relevant local/regional authorities, traditional/religious leaders and humanitarian actors (within or outside the Red Cross Movement).
Requirement:
University degree.
Minimum 3 years work experience in a similar field; previous experience in a psycho-social program or/arid in relation to the missing file would be an asset
Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken; excellent knowledge of Luo is mandatory; Kiswahili Or/and any local language of the area affected by the war with the LRA would be important assets.
Excellent knowledge of the various traditions (in particular Acholi and Langi) and of the recent history of Northern Uganda
Good computer skills.
Valid driving license

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to coach and motivate
Flexibility and resistance to stress
Ability to represent the ICRC during meetings with external stakeholders (local/regional authorities; traditional/religious leaders; humanitarian actors)
Excellent reporting skills
Be able to travel within Northern Uganda on a daily basis and to Kampala on a monthly basis (for up to one week)
