Programme Coordinator Jobs at Institute for Social Transformation (IST) in Uganda


Job Title: Programme Coordinator

The Institute for Social Transformation (IST) is a non- profit organization established in Uganda in 2006 to promote use of the Training for Transformation (TfT) methodology in English speaking countries of Eastern Africa. Its main office is based in Ntinda, Plot 390 Kaduyu Close, Kiwatule. The Institute aims to develop:
A new quality of community leadership in the 7 English speaking countries of Eastern Africa (Uganda, Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya and Tanzania and for specific purposes, Rwanda).
The skills, insights and abilities of teams from NGOs and community organizations to empower local self-reliant community development efforts
The confidence and skills of local programme leaders to work with and challenge their governments to ensure macro and micro-economic policies that are to the advantage of the marginalized.
 To achieve the above aims, the Institute has established an office and a team of professionals with the relevant competencies to prepare and implement its programmes. The programme coordinator will serve as team leader for programme preparation and implementation. Specifically the programme coordinator will:

A.     Manage Implementation of IST programmes
To manage and supervise programme staff in the IST office
Ensure timely implementation of all programmes
Develop periodical work plans and monitor implementation
Oversee preparation and implementation of monitoring and evaluation strategy
Liaise with partner organizations; local, national and international as need arises
Identify potential donors and prepare fundable project proposals according to the respective formats
Prepare periodical narrative reports and ensure timely reporting to the different donor agencies

B.     Serve as Principle Trainer
Ensure effective implementation of training programmes entrusted to the Institute.
Conduct training needs assessment of participants and organizations coming to the Institute for training.
Organize training teams and prepare training materials for courses offered by the Institute.
Conduct training workshops using the Training for Transformation approach.
Prepare reports of training conducted by the Institute.

Requirement:
Minimum of Master’s degree by coursework & research in adult education, community development or social studies from a recognized University.
Up to date on theory and research in radical approaches to learning, gender equality and leadership
A minimum of four (4) years working experience in training and community development work using participatory approaches in particular the Training for Transformation methodology
Proven high level writing skills for reports and project documents
Demonstrated ability to use computer assisted software for learning
Excellent presentation skills
Unquestionable integrity, self-motivation, team player, highly versatile, high-level interpersonal and good communications skills and capability to work under tight deadlines in a competitive environment.
