Job Description:
Represent URA in Courts of Law/Tax Appeals Tribunal in all cases assigned by the
AC.

Job Requirements:

REPORTS TO: SUPERVISOR LITIGATION

ROLE:

To provide and monitor litigation services in cases arising from the
implementation of the Income Tax & VAT laws in line with the
departmental guidelines and relevant laws.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

a) Represent URA in Courts of Law/Tax Appeals Tribunal in all cases assigned by the
AC.
b) Investigate and carry out legal research on all cases/matters as directed by the AC
and other officers.
c) Draft pleadings and other documents in accordance with Departmental instructions,
and laws applicable.
d) Generate reports on all legal issues that arise out of and/or related to tax laws.
Court cases and other URA transactions in accordance with, the HRMM,
Professional Ethics, and Relevant laws.
e) Interview and brief witnesses on court/Tribunal/Arbitration court procedures and
practices in line with the Evidence Act and Professional Ethics.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

1. Academic Qualifications
Essential:
a) An Honors Bachelor LLB degree
b) Diploma in Legal Practice
c) Enrolment as an Advocate
Desirable:
Membership to professional Law Associations is an added advantage

2. Experience and Knowledge
a) At least two (2) years’ experience in Legal Practice in Large Organizations, Corporate
entities or in private practice.
b) Knowledge of and experience in taxation litigation and employment laws will be added
advantage

3. Character & Abilities:
a) A positive and confident attitude
b) Strategic thinking and analytical skills coupled with the ability to develop best
practices in the litigation function.
c) Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
d) Assertive, mature and foresighted
e) A team leader with high level of integrity
f) Ability to develop and coach others
g) Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying and
understanding the implications of new information
h) Problem Sensitivity and Solving: The ability to tell when something is wrong or is
likely to go wrong and proposing effective solutions.
