Job Title: Counsellors (08 POsitions)

ActionAid Uganda seeks to recruit competent persons to fill the vacancies below;

Reports to: Project Officer (Women Protection
Centres Project)
Location: Mubende, Pallisa, Nebbi, Kween,
Katakwi, Kumi, Amuru, Bwaise

Key Result Areas
i. Receive, maintain and keep confidential case records of clients at the centre.
ii. Document detailed description of events as told by the client.
iii. Assess the client’s psychological, emotional and physical health.
iv. Counsel the client and initiate strategies to follow up and resolve the conflict.
v. Conduct community education and awareness raising activities
vi. Write monthly reports and maintain confidential records regarding the client cases
vii. Provide follow up home visits for additional support to the clients as required. viii. Maintain the centre in a standard, hygienically clean and orderly manner.
viii. Develop and implement effective outreach activities according to local context
ix. Appropriately refer matters relating to probate, guardianships, protective services, powers of attorney, or any other matter requiring legal intervention
x. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Project Officer, legal officer or Project Coordinator.

Requirement:
Qualification and Experience:
A minimum of a Diploma in Social Work, Counselling, Education or any other relevant field.
At least 1-2 years of relevant working experience from a recognized organization / institution. Previous experience in implementing Gender Based Violence interventions will be an added advantage.
The applicant must demonstrate the following abilities;
Diplomacy and assertiveness Quality communication skills Familiarity with standards for Gender Based Violence, programs, counselling skills and experience
Ability to confront and discuss sensitive issues with respect and care
Knowledge of Human Rights violations and redress mechanisms
Knowledge of the local language of the work station is a must.
