Job Title: GENDER AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (9 VACANCIES)

SALARY SCALE:   UGANDA GOVERNMENT SCALE-KCCA 7
AGE:  25 YEARS AND ABOVE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND WORKING EXPERIENCE:
Applicants should be Ugandans holding  an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies or Arts  or
Social Sciences  or Social work and Social Administration  or Community  Psychology or any relevant
Humanity course with Community Development as one of the subjects from a recognized University.
Possession of   post graduate qualification in relevant field will be added advantage
At least 2 years working experience at Officer level in community development work in the Civil Society,
NGO or Government departments.
He/she should have the following Key competences: knowledge of community structures and system; good
interpersonal  relations, Oral  and written  communication,  and community mobilization skills;  capacity in
planning and budgeting for community development programs, ability to build capacity of CBOs, and other
community led groups to implement their mandate; data collection, documentation and reporting writing
skills; innovative, coaching and mentoring skills; proven integrity and confidentiality; and ability to work
well under pressure meet deadlines and with limited supervision.
DUTIES:-
The incumbent will be responsible to the Supervisor Community Development for performing the following
duties:-
 Planning and budgeting for development programmes in the urban council.
 Supervising staff involved in uplifting the social and economic welfare of local communities.
 Organizing local communities to effectively participate in development initiatives.
 Sensitizing communities on rights, roles and obligations.
 Monitoring community development programmes and projects.
 Generating quality and timely monthly reports and data within the urban council.
 Promoting the equal participation of all communities in development programmes.
 Promotes the creation and growth of functional groups for the improved welfare of the population.
 Trains communities in literacy programmes and income generating activities.
 Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
