Job Title: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (1 Position)

Job Description

JOB REF:              CAA/ADW EXT/08/2012

REPORTS TO:              SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER                  

SALARY LEVEL;          10                                            

PURPOSE                                    

The position exists to ensure availability of reliable electrical power to the airport users, equipment on a 24 hour basis by providing technical support in electrical maintenance, installations and repairs.                                                    

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:                                                

1. Input into business planning, budgeting and review process                    

Participates in the preparation of input tor departmental budget, plans and reviews                                        

2. Electrical repair and maintenance process.                  

Carries out electrical installations and ensures that the processes are up to the required standard and practice.                      
Carries out preventive maintenance &servicing of all electrical installations to improve on the efficiency and reduce down time                          
Undertakes scheduled and unscheduled work ensuring that standards and good practice is adhered to.                    
Timely attends to emergencies to ensure continued availability of power
Carries out dairy technical inspections of all electrical installations to ensure continued serviceability and safety of  operations.                    
Carries out monthly inspections lo ensure installation/equipment/systems adheres to ICAO Standard and practices.                    
Carries out preventive maintenance/ servicing of all electrical installations and organizes log books and shift registers                  
Leads the team of Technicians in carrying out day to day operations and organizing log books and shift registers.                  
Participates in trouble shooting to determine causes of faults damage before carrying out repairs                          
Makes requisitions for materials to use on assigned jobs   and ensures their efficient use                    
Prepares input into the quarterly technical report covering serviceability of all Airport electrical/ installations/systems/ equipment is made to the management.
Prepares technical, breakdown analysts reports for management information
Assists in monitoring level of stocks of critical items and  ensures that prescribed order levels are maintained.                        
Participates in the compilation of required specifications and standards to assist in procurement of required consumables and spares, in terms of numbers and quality.
Liaises with external service providers and ensures timely and accurate completion of works.                                                  
QUALIFICATIONS                                        

A good BSc. Engineering degree (Electrical)                  

EXPERIENCE                                                  

3 years relevant working experience                      

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS                                                      

Technician membership of the Uganda Institute of Professional  Engineers will be an added advantage.
