Technical Officer Job Vacancy at Uganda Communications Commission


Regional Office - MBALE

Job Title: TECHNICAL OFFICER
Reports to: Head Regional Offices
Job Role:  This is a vacant position in the newly created regional office of Mbale where the job holder will provide all the ICT technical support to visitors/clients in line with the Commission mission.

Key Result Areas:

Carry out inspections for radio installations at the stations in the region, to check compliance with the quality of installation and compliance to license conditions;

Carry out routine monitoring measurements to ensure that unauthorized users do not use the spectrum;

Compile data for planning purposes and prosecution of illegal radio frequency users and transmitters;

Identify, Receive and Follow up on complaints of interference and logging them for resolution as appropriate;

Monitor unused radio frequency spectrum is reclaimed in accordance to departmental mission;

Carry out administrative and clerical work relating to spectrum monitoring;

Provide accurate information on Digital migration and SIM card registration to clients;

Produce timely reports on inspections, maintenance and monitoring carried out;

Carry out maintenance of equipment at the fixed remote and mobile monitoring stations in accordance to departmental mission; and

Troubleshoot and rectify faults associated with equipment in the stations in accordance to departmental mission.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications or Electrical or Electronic Engineering.


Experience and Knowledge

At least two (2) years' experience in maintenance of electronic/radio equipment; and

Computer literacy is a MUST
