Job Title – Marketing and BCC Officer
 Reporting to the Senior Manager: Integrated marketing and communications

The Marketing and BCC officer’s (MBCC) main role is to implement the Marketing and Communication strategies for Bluestar, Centres and outreach to ensure increased knowledge, and improved attitude and behaviour towards the use of Sexual and Reproductive Health services in Uganda. A key performance indicator will be increased uptake of Long-term and permanent FP methods and SRH services accessed from BlueStar, Centres and Outreach.  This person is expected to have strong blend of Marketing, Behaviour Change Communication and community mobilization skills and experience.

The Marketing and BCC officer will be required to work productively with the Research, Monitoring & Evaluation, Operations and Social Franchising teams to ensure that programme activities serve the indicators in MSU’s M&E framework.

Your role will be:

4)    To manage marketing and demand generation for MSU’s Bluestar social franchise. Key activities will include:
     Conduct a market audit to identify the key benefits and selling points for BlueStar
     Co-ordinate development of IEC and promotional materials for BlueStar
     Co-ordinate the launch of BlueStar
     Conduct promotional events for BlueStar to increase both paying and voucher clients
     Co-ordinate the full branding of BlueStar service providers
     Work with the advertising agency to manage mass media campaigns to promote BlueStar services
     Provide technical support to community based interventions to create demand for BlueStar clients including monitoring CBDs and BCC teams to ensure they are generating demand for BlueStar
 5)    To plan, implement and manage demand generation for Centres and Outreach to increase uptake of long-acting and permanent family planning methods (LAPMs). Key activities will include:
     Provide technical support to BCC teams to ensure that they conduct effective community based interventions leading to increased demand for LAPM
     Oversee marketing and BCC activities of Centres and outreach based on MSU’s overall integrated marketing strategy, leading to increased visibility and uptake of MSU promoted FP services
     Develop marketing and BCC messages for Centres and Outreach for LAPM
     Manage community mobilization for outreach including media planning and scheduling leading to effective media buying
     Manage all Marketing and BCC components for community health workers including provision of technical assistance to CHWs on marketing techniques
     Coordinate development of promotional and  I.E.C materials for centre staff and community health workers to increase knowledge on and uptake of LAPM
     In collaboration with service delivery teams, strengthen and cultivate beneficial relationships with district officials leading to district based mobilization for outreach

Qualifications:
 •    Degree in Marketing, social sciences. public health or related discipline
 •    Desirable: Masters or equivalent in Marketing or  relevant discipline
 Experience:

•    Managed marketing and promotion of a successful brand or service
 •    Managed community mobilisation activities, including development of community level BCC materials and working with community-based volunteers
 •    Co-ordinated production of work through an advertising agency
 •    Worked on marketing and BCC campaigns/activities for health products or services (desirable)
 Skills:
 •    Proven excellent technical oral, written, and editing abilities; ability to present and write influentially for multiple audiences
 •    World class marketing skills
 •    Ability to work well with others in team environments; must be able to satisfy stakeholders; should be able to work in deadline driven/results orientated atmospheres
 •    Strong people management skills
 •    Able to work as part of a team, building consensus and driving change
 •    Able to think strategically
 •    Good planner

 •    Driven to deliver on project goals to achieve MSU’s mission
