Job Title: Principal Projects Engineer

Job Description

The position located at Company Head Office reports to Manager, Projects Implementation

Purpose

The purpose of the position is to assist the Manager, Projects Implementation coordinate the projects and implement transmission plans to meet the future demand in line with Company strategic objectives.

Key Result Areas

• Participate in the procurement of consultancy services contracts

• Co-ordinate all activities related to supply and installation of equipment for ongoing proposed projects

• Study and implement the plans for designs of physical transmission lines and substations including their protection, control and related power systems communication.

• Implement designs and develop technical specifications for ongoing and proposed transmission line and substation projects

• Supervise and co-ordinate all engineering works on transmission lines and substations to achieve quality and economy of works

• Supervise various consultants and contractors contracted by UETCL to design, supply and construct transmission lines and substations

• Monitor transmission line and substation projects in respect to agreed milestones and performance indicators

• Participate in preparation and reviewing of contracts, designs and documentation carried out by consultants and contractors

• Participate in tender evaluations processes and contract awards as outlined in PPDA rules and multi lateral agency guidelines.

• Co-ordinate and supervise all transmission lines and substations project designs and

• execution in order to achieve Company projects in a timely and economic functions.

• Budget for all section activities and projects

And to carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

THE PERSON

The desired person should have the following essential requirements.

• University Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.

• Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning or Management or Business Administration will be added advantage.

• At least three years of work experience in supervision of works and projects.

• Significant experience with donor funded projects and reporting practices.

• Computer literacy and familiarity with Ms Projects and Ms Excel computer packages.

• Must have good supervisory and interpersonal skills.

• Must have good analytical and communication skills.

• Must be able to withstand stressful work situations and have willingness to work for long hours outside the official working hours.

• A person of high integrity, motivated, innovative and a committed team player.

• Must possess a valid National Driving Permit.
