Job Description

 
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private, independent humantarian organisation working on aspects of durable solustions and promoting human security and implements programs that are aligned in support of National strategy for development assistance to refugee hosting areas in Adjumani,Moyo ,Yumbe Koboko,Maracha and Arua Districts in Westnile Region. Danish Refugee Council/Danish Demining Group In a bid to ensure sustainable achievement our mission is seeking to recruit dynamic and experienced person to fill the positions of;

2 Livelihood/Gender Assistants –Westnile Adjumani and Arua.
Reporting Line:Livelihood/Gender Coordinator Westnile.

General Role
The post refers to a trained DRC staff with vast knowledge of the contextual area of operations and can coordinate activities in compliance with Internal/Donor and National policies/ Operational Standard.

Responsibility and Specific Tasks.
Manage field based staff, volunteers, and community participants.
Assist in meetings and trainings with stake holders and target groups at the District and Sub Counties.
Regular data collection and monitoring and evaluation of program activities as directed by the Agricultural/ Livelihood Officer.
Implementation of livelihood activities for EVIs and other needs identification exercise and follow up.
Contribute to the central objective of Achieving the key Project Objective of enhancing Self Reliance.
Promote Environment and gender-Sensitive Livelihoods programming.
Ensure efficient and Effective program implementation.
Contribute in the development of Project Plans/Budgets and Livelihood funding proposals.
Develop relationship with a range of Key stakeholders in OPM, UN Agencies, Local Governments, Private Sector and CSOs in order to facilitate the development of economic opportunities and increased incomes for the targeted beneficiaries.
Participate in the Program operational and long term planning.
Participate in Farmers capacity building trainings.
Mobilization of Farmer groups.
Link farmers with potential market opportunities.
Organizing farmers’ field days/exchange visits.
Setting technical demonstration plots (TDS) for farmers.
Manages the day-to-day livelihood activities, including activity finances while bearing in mind DRC’s/Donor financial regulations.
With support from his/her Supervisor, draw work plans/Budgets.
Monitor and document DRC’s livelihood activities. Upholds DRC’s international code of conduct.

Person Specification
Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Studies or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Minimum of 2 years working experience in a similar position.
Work experience with venerable groups and communities in the rural setting
Good computer skills – MS Excel and other Microsoft office programs.
Good writing, presentation and communication skills
Background in livelihood practices and income generation using agricultural inputs.
Experience working with an International NGO is an added advantage
Must have valid Riding Permit.

For the position
The position is contract based.
Remuneration and benefits are as per DRC/DDG Uganda Standard Salary Scale and Benefit packages.
