POSITION: OFFICER SOFTWARE ENGINEERING – DEVELOPER- (05 POSITIONS)
JOB CODE: HRM/073/600
REPORTS TO: SUPERVISOR SOFTWARE ENGINEERING / SENIOR PROGRAMMER

ROLE: Design, write/modify code, test, debug, and document programs’ tailored to user needs, as packages adapted to support specific.
Person Specifications
a) Qualifications
• Honors Degree in any of the following areas: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Physics/Mathematics, Computer Applications or equivalent.
• Professional Certifications that are relevant to application development such as Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD), Oracle Certified Developer (OCD), JCP (Java Certified Professional), Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD) or equivalent will be an added advantage.
b) Experience and Knowledge
• Strong working knowledge of Java, C#, C++ orJ2EE with a strong focus on Web based and MVC patterned applications;and experience in the use of various source libraries and tools. Hands-on experience with systems development in new computing architectures and environments;
• In-depth knowledge and application of Object Oriented Analysis & Design concepts
• In-depth knowledge of systems implementation of processes, data, tables, modules and functionality combined with the ability to write efficient code to manipulate and query large data sets
• At least Two years’ experience with computer application design working with development of line of business applications.It will be advantageous if this relates to a large corporate
• Knowledge of relevant technology, tools, and middleware is critical, including development technologies, scripting languages and relational databases such as ORACLE RDBMS 10g or MS SQL 2005
• Extensive experience with several of the following: Linux, PL/SQL, TOAD, T-SQL, Net and Windows 2008 server.
• Any of the following would be an asset: experience with XML, Java and Java script, JDBC, ODBC, J2EE, JSP, ASP.NET or XSLT.

(d) Special Requirements
• Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer.
• Willingness to work additional hours during the week and/or weekend, if required.
