Senior Research Fellow Job Vacancy In Uganda at Economic Research Center



Job Title:Senior Research Fellow- Trade (1 post)
Reports to the Principal Research Fellow
Main Duties
a) Undertake empirical trade and/or regional integration policy research
and analysis
b) Engage in commissioned work for and on behalf of the Centre
c) Based on research findings and sound analysis, contribute to national
policy discourse
d) Actively participate in national trade and regional integration policy
forums
e) Guide research and capacity building activities of Research Fellows and
Assistant Research Fellows
f) Mentor and coach Research Fellows and Assistant Research Fellows
Requirements:
a) Excellent academic background with a Ph.D. in Economics (by
coursework and research) with strong bias in trade and economic
integration issues from a reputable University
b) Knowledge of external trade issues including trading blocs, bilateral,
WTO and EPA
c) Knowledge of international and domestic trade will be an added
advantage
d) Proven high level writing skills as primary authorship in publishing
research papers, review etc.
e) Evidence of publication of own written articles in either local or
international journals
f) Self motivation and capability to work under tight deadlines in a
competitive environment
g) High-level interpersonal skills and good communications skills
h) Excellent writing and presentation skills
i) A minimum of five (5) years of postdoctoral research work experience in
relevant public or private sector institutions
j) Professional experience of working with reputable research institutions in
policy-oriented work
k) Unquestionable integrity

The position is for three year contract, with a possibility for renewal subject to
