Job Description:

We are retained by Forum for African Women Educationalists Uganda Chapter (FAWEU) to identify a competent Ugandan to fi ll the post of Executive Director based in their headquarters.

FAWEU is a member of the renowned Pan-African NGO, whose key objective is to ensure that girls and women are an integral part of the intellectual resource base needed for the development and prosperity of Uganda and Africa as a whole; and champions the empowerment of women through comprehensive quality education.

The post is tenable for a period of fi ve years and carries attractive salary and benefi ts which will be negotiable.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chairperson, the Executive Director will bear the following responsibilities:-

• Work with the Board from time to time in developing policies that will guide the operations of the Chapter.

• Lobby and advocate on policy matters at national and community levels to sensitise policy makers on issues pertaining to girl’s and women’s education

• Forge partnerships with likeminded bodies and conduct advocacy.

• Conduct interventions in order to demonstrate what works for girls’ education.

• Achieve effective replication and mainstreaming by documenting and disseminating the chapter’s best practices as well as initiating dialogue to infl uence mainstreaming.

• Promote corporate governance by carrying out membership drive

• Ensuring that Board meetings are convened in accordance with the constitutional requirements.

• Ensure suffi cient funding through effective strategies and resource mobilisation.

• Ensure that appropriate systems are in place for monitoring and evaluating the Chapter’s work including indicators of performance and impact on improving girls’ education.

• Undertake regular monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the strategic plan and work programme.

• Prepare and submit regular operational reports.

• Run the affairs of the Chapter effectively and effi ciently through optimal utilisation of resources, monitoring staff performance, mentoring staff as well as building their
capacities.
Preferred Skills:

Qualifications and Experience Ugandan ladies who hold the following qualifi cations will be considered: -

• A Masters’ degree in education, social science and administration, or development studies.

• A minimum of five years post-qualification experience in an NGO and in education and gender related work.

• Training in project planning and management.

• Computer profi ciency in MS Offi ce.

• Age bracket: between 35 to 50 years of age

• Demonstrable financial management skills
