Job Title: Programme Officer – Agriculture and Business Development Services


Job Description:

Oxfam GB is a worldwide organisation that has been working in Uganda for over 40 years. Oxfam GB is looking for dynamic, enthusiastic and committed persons to join its team.

The Kitgum programme is implementing a market oriented livelihoods programme in both Kitgum and Lamwo districts. The programme is based on a gender and market enterprise approach through establishing and building strong linkages between value chain actors within specified value chains.

The role
We are in need of a Programme Officer- Agriculture and Business Development to support the value chain actors to access various agribusiness services required for their business expansion especially market access and financial services. (S)he will be part of a group of the Kitgum programme team and will participate actively in developing context analysis, positioning and designing interventions and business models relevant for agribusiness development. (S)he will provide support to the programme manager in planning , implementation, monitoring and evaluation of livelihoods programme activities and provide technical guidance to project partners, value chain actors and stakeholders on matters relating to strengthening of specified value chain in Kitgum and Lamwo.

The Person
You should possess a University degree in agribusiness development, agricultural economics, rural development, development studies or in area of institutional development linked to agriculture.
Preferred Skills: You should have at least 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in rural areas. Proven experience in value chain development and gender enterprise and markets. You should have proven track record in provision of business development services to small and medium enterprises plus demonstrated experience in process facilitation and institutional development especially producer organizations. Knowledge of gender and social inclusion concepts and governance for empowerment principles in general is a must have as well as a good understanding and appreciation of Acholiland context and willingness to travel widely within the region.
