Job Title: Community ~ Based Reproductive Health Officers

About this Job:
Reports to: Project Director
Pathfinder international Uganda is implementing Health of People and Environment (HOPE-Project) on the Lake Victoria Basin. We are looking for 2 people who are dynamic, innovative, flexible and ready to implement integrated Population, Health and Environment Project in the Lake Victoria Basin. These positions are community based; one will be on Bussi Island and the other on Jagussi Island in Mayuge both on Lake Victoria.

Job description for these positions is as follows:

*    Provide support to Project Director in designing, implementation and monitoring of integrated health and environment/ conservation project activities in the “project communities

°    Participate in designing training materials; training activities and coordinate trainings for community groups

-    Collaborate with the project conservation officer to provide daily technical supervision and other support to community groups to ensure proper implementation of integrated SRH and conservation activities

*    Collaborate with the project conservation officer to identify needs of community groups such as youth groups, women groups, BMUs etc and provide technical support as necessary in conjunction with Project Director

•    Provide routine support to the health facilities targeted by the project to ensure smooth provision of FP/RH services

•    Ensure availability and effective use of appropriate data collection tools for community groups

Ensure routine and timely data collection for project activities and prepare timely monthly and quarterly reports on project activities for submission to project Director

•    Ensure that lessons learnt and success stories in the community are well documented and submitted to Project Director along with quarterly reports

•    Represent the project

Requirement:
•    4-5 years’ experience in working with communities on the islands

•    Knowledge about behaviors, practices and dynamics of Island populations and their surroundings is an added advantage

•    Willingness and readiness to stay within the community is a MUST.  70% of your time will be spent in the community and 30% will be spent at Pathfinder – Kampala Office.

•    Five years’ experience in community

development work with a focus on building capacity for community based groups such as Youth and Women in SRH programs

•    University degree in public health, social sciences, nursing or equivalent

•    Knowledge in family planning, facility/ community based maternity care and training in SRH components.

•    Very good command of English, Luganda and/or Lusoga is a must

•    Very good writing skills
