Job Description

Directorate: Clinical Services
Reports to: Adherence and Social Welfare Manager

Job Summary: The post holder will be responsible for managing and coordinating the counseling services of Mildmay Uganda to patients and their families, and providing professional and managerial leadership to the counseling team. He/she will also ensure provision of counseling technical support for Ministry of Health Systems strengthening and to the different programmes undertaken by Mildmay Uganda.

Job Requirements: Master’s Degree in Counselling, or Clinical Psychology and a Bachelors degree in Counselling, or Clinical Psychology or any other health-related qualification. He/she must have at least 4 years’ practical experience in HIV and AIDS counselling, including the counselling of children and adolescents plus 1 year of supervising staff. He/she must have knowledge and experience of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment; HIV/AIDS counselling guidelines as well as knowledge of Ministry of Health systems

For all positions above, other qualities are:  Good communication and interpersonal skills, Proficiency in various MS office packages and working knowledge of English and local language(s) are crucial. Hard working, trust-worthy, and holding the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality. Must be flexible, reliable, able to work under pressure; and in sympathy with the Christian values of Mildmay International. Evidence of a non-judgemental approach regarding race, religion, culture, sexuality and lifestyle is critical.
