Job Title : Information Technology Manager

 
Job Description

PEARL Micrafinance Ltd (PEARL) is a Fast growing microfmance company limited by shares. It is rated as a category A by the Association of Micrafinance Institutions of Uganda (AMFIU). The mission ot PEARL is to be a leading financial institution in providing suitable financial services to the economically active population of Uganda. PEARL currently serves over 25,000 clients tvilh 14 branches spread in 14 districts ol Uganda.

Wilh the backing of its international and local partners, PEARL is undergoing tremendous growth and transformation. To support this growth on a sustainable basis, Pearl invites applications from suitably qualified applicants for position of Information Technology Manager. The position is based at the Head Office in Kampala.

The Information Technology Manager reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Main responsibilities:

Develop and implement IT strategy, standards, initiatives and innovations necessary to ensure efficiency and effectiveness ol PEARL operations,
Ensure seamless IT services at both Head Office and branches through proactive actions,
Operational responsibility lor the server, workplace and neiwork infrastructure of the entire PEARL net work Head Office and Branches.
Adminrstralive and operational responsibility for the core banking system and attached components,
User support lor all central and workplace systems (MS Windows, MS SQL, banking applications, e-mail), derivation and realization of improvements,
■ Administration of the whole IT environment – from ad-hoc solving printer problems over the daily backup up to the development and testing of disaster recovery scenarios.

Guarantee IT security and operational standards of the banking system providers.
Strategic planning of the future system environment and business continuity planning as well as investment and cost calculations tcgeiher with the CEO and corporate headquarters.
Evaluate performance of infrastructure of  information systems.
business processes and initiate continuous improvements.

Assessment, negotiations and directing of external providers while meeting the budget targets,
Management of bank specific and complex IT projects,
Provide leadership to the IT team,
Training and knowledge transfer within the IT team.
Minimum requirements:

Degree in information technology, computer science or business information technology or comparable qualification. A Masters degree in Information Technology will be an added advantage,

At least 5 years of professional experience working in an operational IT rde.
Evidence ol souid experience in:
o Administering modem MS Windows server and PC environments (hardware, operation system. MS Office, SQL database, network connections).

o Use of Equinox/Orbit in a financial institution

o IT security toals andmelhods (firewalls, VPN),

o Backup and recovery procedures.

o Problem solving, analytical and process oriented.

o Managing complex IT projects, systems design and implementation, selecting service providets and negotiating contracts, windows batch scripling and Linux ■ Evidence of effective leadership of employees and service

providats.

Ability to communicate effectively in English and wilh sell confidence,
Ability to organize work independently in an effective, goal oriented manner.
